Hi Everyone,

My fiancee and her kid just came down with a slight cold. She has her interview June 12th and was planning on doing the medical about June 4th after she picks up her child's passport from DFA. I was curious what everyone would recommend. Would we be best rescheduling the interview and doing the medical in a couple more weeks or should we be okay if it is just a cold she has (runny nose, scratchy throat, cough from tickle in throat)?

I appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

I have a friend who went through her X-ray in the same condition. She asked the person who took her X-ray if her condition will affect the result and said it will not. But it would be better if some will confirm this to be sure.

Hi there!

It will not affect your fiancee's chest x-ray in anyway as long as she has no history of pulmonary tuberculosis or pneumonia. It is just an upper respiratory tract infection which can be cured by drinking lots of fluids (i.e. water and juice), proper handwashing and good nutrition. she doesn't even have to take antibiotics if its not bacterial infection.

Good luck on her medical exam..

Thank you so much to both of your responses! I have been telling her drink plenty of water and juices, maybe by next week she will be all better anyways. I won't worry as much now tho at least.

Thanks Again,

I had a cold during my med exam and I passed. It won't affect the chest x-ray results at all.

Good luck!

Ah I'm so happy for you! Congrats on your interview too! I am in Portland as well. You will love it here, it is so pretty and so many things to do. How are you going to be flying here? I am considering either Northwest Airlines to Seattle and meeting my fiancee in Seattle, or PAL to San Francisco and then a flight from there to Portland. Have a safe trip here!

Jason,

I am Don, Joy's fiancee. I am the one that lives in Portland.

Thank you for the congrats on the visa approval. We are very excited!

As far as the Northwest Airlines goes, why not take NWA flight 2 out of Manila to Tokyo at 0745 it arrives at 1310, then NWA flight 6 Tokyo direct to Portland. It leaves at 1525 and arrives between 0730 and 0800 am at PDX. The only problem is the customs people do not start work until 0800 so they make you wait until they come on duty. Portland is a gateway city for NWA. I have used this route twice. It is a good way to go, but it is tiring no matter which way you go.

Good Luck!!!

I was actually sick when I had my medical and passed it. It wouldn't affect any of the results as long as your fiancee has no serious health complications i.e. TB. Tell her to drink more water, OJ, fresh milk and load up with Vit. Cs.

Hi Don!

Thanks for the information on the flight. That sounds like a great plan. I will see if my fiancee would like to do that. I think she is a little scared about switching planes as she has only flown two other times and that was with me. Both gates I imagine are very close to each other there I am sure tho and in the same terminal right? This sounds like the best flight here. Take care and congrats again on your new life together to both of you!
