I would think that your signature date on the application has to be after the date you are eligible to apply which is on 15th. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

So if you sign the application before with later date and mention about your trip it might case a problem.

I would be careful about it.

I doubt the date with your signature has any value - some of us forget to date these forms - The postal date is the most important one for counting the 90 days prior to the expiration of the 2-year card - I would have 'your' wife mail it for you; by the way, I have also heard that some people have mailed the N400 prior to the 90 days and were still OK. Good Luck

as there is no clear way to deal with this, i guess i will wait untill i come back to avoid any problem...

I doubt also that the date sent will matter. As for part 7 of the N-400 the time spent out of the country does matter. It would look kind of funny for them to receive a N-400 showing you returned to the US on a certain date before you actually got here or you were still out of the country when you sent it. If you send the N-400 before you go you won't have to mention it.

I agree because My signature on my form was 3 days early of the 90 days window. I called the USCIS 1800 and she told me that the most important is the postal date.

Just pick a date that is 90 days before the 3rd anniversary of your PRC and type that in, sign it, put all your proof in an envelope, mark a calendar with a big red X on that date, and have your wife mail it off on that day, or maybe one or two days later. If you are paying with a personal check, use that same date.

We sent ours off March 29 first class from WI to NE, they received it March 31 and assigned that receipt date to it, shortly after send the receipt and biometrics appointment, but gave us until July 18 to get the biometrics done that is 3 1/2 months. Said if we didn't show before July 18th, our application will be canceled.

If they do the same with you, will give you a grace period to get your finger prints taken. Didn't bother with overnight this time, why pay the extra to save a day, when we are dealing with months or years.

thanks guys for your feedback..but my concern is, when i mention in part 7 of the n400 that i am out of the country from (for example sep 3rd - oct 3rd) my wife will send my application on sep 15th which is the opening date of 90 days, so , does the immigration will have any issue with that ? or i should not mention that trip at all in part 7 ??? ...i m sorry guys , i know it`s not a big deal but i d like to send it early to avoid a lot of waiting...the earlier, the better....thanks again

In my unprofessional opinion, that gets hairy as I feel you should report that trip on your N-400, they don't ask for the trips after you sent in the application, but may at the time of the interview, but this trip is occurring at the same time as when you want to send your application in. I would personally just wait those two weeks.

And as we seen here, if everyone is telling the truth on processing dates, first to apply isn't necessarily the first served. In particular when you sent your I-751 8 months before someone else has, you are still waiting and they got their ten year cards already.
