I am just curious what the sequence of events are for most, in dealing with the NVC...I filed I-130 back in November and was approved by USCIS in late April. I am now going through the final steps at NVC to get the interview scheduled......Here's my question:

I have noticed that some people pay their IV bill online first...and some people pay the I-864 first...and there seems to not really be an organized sequence of events. I have paid and filed everything I could at the soonest possible moment to speed along our case. I have not been given the option to pay the IV bill yet....even online it says "not invoiced". I did pay the I-864 and sent that in....and also sent in the DS-3032 which is where we are now...waiting for the IV bill to be "generated" so we can go online and pay for that, then send in the DS-230..then be scheduled for the interview. I see some people paying for both the I-864 and IV bill together and sending in the I-864 later, around the time you would normally submit the DS-230...in some cases it seems to go backwards....not all but some. There are some that I see follow the same sequence of events as ours...but really I am curious as to why all cases wouldn't be sequenced the same....

Does anyone know if there is a "set" sequence of events that the NVC follows or if it is based on your particular case???? I wish I could have paid the IV bill and I-864 at the same time, in the beginning of working with the NVC....I don't know why we can't. It would save everyone a few steps!

Pls let me know your thoughts on this....if anyone knows the real answer.

It seems like when the online payment option was first set up it was probably giving you that option, but once they did a Maintenance in the end of April it's more smart and it doesn't give you that option. we had to wait about 10 days or so before we got that option to pay our IV Bill Online. So I think you will have that option soon. It also depends how fast they process your I-864.

Your IV Bill will be generated after they process the DS-3032 you sent them and it takes them about two weeks to do that so they should generate it this coming Monday. It has nothing to do with the I-864.

These are two independent tracks. One is not contingent upon other, but your case is contingent upon the completion of both packets.

You can pay the IV bill and submit the DS-230 packet first, and after the completion of DS-230 you can start the I-864 process, and it would not bother NVC. You're case will not complete until you submit both of the fees and packets.
