Hello. I made a expedite request on May 16, 2008. The Customer Service lady told me it will take 5 business days or even longer to respond to me. I called yesterday VSC using RFE trick. The officer told me that my file has been gone to an adjudicator and he told me it might take weeks or even months for it to get processed. Anyone else has this situation? What should I do? Thanks

I presume you haven't had an email stating whether the expedite request was approved or denied.

The fact your file has gone to an adjudicator is very good .... they are either checking your file to help them make a decision on your expedite ..... or, don't get too excited at this stage, but they could be beginning the process of adjudicating it.

They don't need to pull your file to simply make a decision or not on an expedite .... check your status on the USCIS website over the next couple of weeks.
Some expedites are fast .... some take a few days ..... some a couple of weeks.
I doubt months would be in the equation as it would render applying for expedite useless.

The expedite limbo land is a strange place to be ... I know, I was there a few days back.

Keep your feet on the ground right now, as it may not pull off .... but if it does, please post how you did it, in the 'Expedite Tips' thread.

Our request took one week through VSC to get the expedite approved.

You're on the 4th working day today .... you should hear either today or tomorrow, and it will probably be by email to you or your Husband.

I made an expedite request and got this email

The status of this service request is:

The Vermont Service Center has reviewed your request for expedited processing of your application/petition due to extreme financial hardship. While your situation appears to be serious, you have not provided documentation of an extreme emergent need for granting this expedite. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requires documentation in order to process your expedite request.

Your response must be received at this office within 20 calendar days from the receipt of this notice. If you do not respond to this request within the allotted time your expedite request will be denied. If your expedite is denied, you can resubmit another expedite request after 30 days of the denial, to the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283.

Documents may include: a letter you have written and signed explaining to the service why you need this case worked in an expedited manner: or (if a financial expedite request) a letter explaining the financial needs and bank statements showing that the income and /or expenditures are causing an inability to meet financial obligations); or any other information you would like to submit to support your expedite request. If you submit a document in any language other than English, it must be completely translated. The translator must certify that the translation is accurate and that he or she is competent to translate.

is this a generic email?

It means that you need to send them in some evidence, they also provide a fax number and mailing address so that you can send it in either way that you want. You might want to do some research as to what to provide to prove financial hardship. From my understanding of it you need to show that either A) you are paying the majority of their bills and supporting them as well as yourself or B ) you are not able to care for yourself and you are depending on their income. Thats just my understanding of it but you can look at some threads here, I do believe there is one on Financial Hardship.

ditto to 000, it looks like they are considering your expedite but need evidence to conclude that you qualify. Congrats if they do approve it!

Well, they havent started to consider it yet, the way it works is you call USCIS 1-800# CS to request an expedite, USCIS takes down your information , case #, address, email, tele, etc. Then they send an email to the service center in which your petition is pending. The email in question is there response to the email USCIS 1-800# cs sent, in order for any expedite to be apporved there must be documentation to back up the request, so at this point they are saying , yes we have your request and now for us to consider your request please submit some evidence to show proof of what you say your situation is. Once they get this evidence then they will consider if they will or will not grant the expedite. USCIS 1-800# CS will send expedite request all day if they are requested to do so, but they have no say of what gets accepted or does not, that is 100% up to the service center.

Yes, exactly. Evidence is key.
