My Filipina GF is living in Japan on a work visa.

If we file for the K1, does she go the Philippine Embassy in Japan for the interview?

Is it the same process as if she were in Manila or will it be harder or easier?

Did she have a contract in Japan? I processed mine at Singapore since I was working in Singapore too. If she has a continued contract i mean can still work until her interview I guess there would be no problem

Typically K-Visas are handled by the US consulate or Embassy in the country of residence, so if your girl friend is in Japan on a resident visa, then the consulate in Japan will handle the visa.

Note: she will need a police report from Japan if she has lived in Japan more than 1 year, as well as one from PI.

From what I read Japan is easier than PI for visas.

Just indicate on form I-129F that the foreign consulate is in Japan.

As yuanddan correctly pointed out , if your GF is a resident of Japan and will continue to reside there until she leaves to join you here , the Consulate will be the US Embassy in Japan where she will have her interview. Therefore in your K1 petition and in her Biographic Information, her current residence will be in Japan and the NVC will send the approved K1 petition to the US Embassy in Japan for the required interview.

Goodluck on the journey.
