Hello, I'm not sure where I'm supposed to post this, but here's my situation:

My wife finished her visa interview on May 15th. However, she didn't pay for the Document Verification until that day (we were unaware of addition verification having to be done).

We're wondering how long it will take for her to receive her visa to the United States if she paid the document verification fee the day of her interview.

Please help us out.

Thanks,
Eric

hi.

i'm not too sure about the exact timeline, but here's the route:
1. the usem will send your wife's name, together with a few others to delbros
2. delbros, in turn, will submit the names to the nso (normally on a monday: i say normally coz delbros submitted my name on a wednesday coz i was making a big fuzz already. i paid the verification a month before my interview and when i checked delbros, 2 weeks prior to my interview, i was told they've yet to submit my name to the nso. can you imagine how infuriated i was!)
3. the nso will verify your papers
note1: the nso normally takes 1-2 weeks to verify docs and turn the results back to the usem
note2: delbros claims, they dont have anything to do with bringing back the verified papers to the usem. according to a staff (robbie), their work stops at delivering usem's request to the nso. so, if you're wondering how are the verified papers brought back to the embassy? my answer is, heaven knows. i tried calling the nso to get info, but i was firmly told that they only deal with usem people. and that's that.

Thanks, Sue!

Well, our only problem is that she is from Davao. So, waiting around Manila is tough because she's staying with my relatives there. The one who conducted the interview said everything was alright, but when she spoke to the cashier, she was told she'd have to pay for document verification. We were totally unaware of that procedure.

Her interview was about 1.5 weeks ago, so any tips on what we should do now? Or just tips in general? Because it's a nerve-racking experience waiting and waiting without a clue as to what's going to happen.

Oh, and the paper she got back said to "Wait until you hear from us" ... From what I've read, that's not a good sign. Although, none of the documents were checked as being required.

Thanks again, Sue, for your response ...

hi

i haven't had my interview yet, so everything i will say about your question will be pure heresay.

supposedly, one should get a pink slip, which signifies an approval and delivery of the visa in no time.

a white slip, on the other hand, means you're on administrative review. this could mean a number of things:
1. the usem is still waiting for the verification of your wife's docs
2. other factors which i'm unaware of, but something that you as a citizen can ask the manila embassy staff (local 5184/5185); for some strange reason, they're friendlier when they're talking to the petitioner rather than the beneficiary/applicant

as for the time frame, based on what i've read (other vjers experience), the wait can be anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months.

hope this helps.

Hi,

Yeah, that's what we've been told. Anywhere up to 6 weeks. Well, that doesn't sound great. We're debating whether or not she should try to re-route her visa delivery to her home in Davao. Does she have to wait in Manila and/or return to the Embassy?

Sorry for asking so many questions. I wish I had checked out some forums prior to this. I just did whatever the paperwork told me to do whenever it arrived. unsure.gif

Well, thanks ... Any other advice will be welcomed and greatly appreciated.

hi.

depends.

if more docs will be asked from your wife, staying in manila will be the better option.

however, if you're just waiting for the verification from the nso, then she doesnt need to go back to the embassy... so yes, re-routing the visa delivery to your wife's hometown makes more sense. smile.gif

perhaps you can call the embassy tomorrow morning (8am manila time - +632 3012000) and ask if you're on ar because of document verification or if they need more from you. then, you can plan your next step.

i'm sure you guys will get your visa in no time. smile.gif

Hi,

If your wife receive a pink slip that says "Visa Delivery Payment", was paid that during her interview last May 15, then there's nothing to worry, she is "approved" but only visa will be delayed. (We've waited couple of months for USCIS approval of our case, why not with "Only weeks for Visa already"? wink.gif )

If you are concerned about your wife staying in her relative in Manila, it would be better then to go home in Davao, as waiting for the release of visa due to "document verification" would take a while. (at most one month after her interview, though there were very few who took more than two months but that's rare , example late registered or Birth Certificate wasn't so clear that it needs for the NSO to verify to the local Municipal of the beneficiary's birth place.)

Good luck.

Hey Sue,

Yeah, she basically was just asked to P650 for the verification and I think P250 for delivery. Maybe I should call the hotline about it and follow-up. I don't see how it would rush the process, but maybe it could shed some light on our situation.

Thanks again!

Document Verification. For married, the only documents that needs to be verified in NSO are Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate and if your wife was previously married "the annulment of her previous marriage" .

de nada.

good luck and god bless.

Remember that the purpose for verification is that the real identity of beneficiary and civil status of beneficiary are not being falsified.

Shape and Sue,

I just called my wife and she DID get a pink slip saying that she paid DELBROS for delivery. So, does that mean things should go smoothly? Is it still possible that they could take 2 months for all of that?

I really don't know what we'd do without you guys!

Much thanks and God bless y'all too!

It won't take that long if your wife's BC and MC has no problem at all.
SHAPE OF MY HEART
wait for at least 2 weeks to a month.

Thank you again for all of the help. Sue and Shape ...

We were getting worried. I guess we'll wait on it for now. If there's anything else we should be aware of, please let us know.

Hi, Did you call already to get interview schedule at USEM?

Hey Shape,

She already did her interview on May 15. We're just waiting for her visa to be delivered, so she can attend some sort of seminar. From what we've heard, it's first come, first serve.

Is that the interview schedule you're referring to?

On a sidenote for Sue and Shape,

I've looked over your timelines and I'm wondering how you guys got things moving along so quickly? I filed my petition April 2007. I know I was about 1-2 months off because I didn't fill out one of the forms properly.

Did you guys have a lawyer or agent handling your cases?

Eric
stuck_in_manila
hi.

nope, no lawyers.

i'm just anal about everything, including paper works. what i did was i filled out the forms to be submitted to the uscis, sent it to my hubby and the hubby signed the forms and mailed it to the authorities.

we also only submitted the very basic requirement. i firmly believe that if everything's above board, then there's no need to burden authorities with tons of docs to go thru.

plus, my hubby's a practising catholic. i guess prayers also helped. smile.gif
