Samanthajayne
I have been living in the US under 1 month, and came here as a spouse.
My husband can not afford to pay for private insurance with work, and we have explored all options, and it appears our onlyhelp is chip perinatal or medicaid?

Am i legally entitled to apply for this benifit?

Many Thanks

I don't really know for sure, but it can't hurt to apply. I remember when I was pregnant with my first and had no insurance...it was scary. Apply and see what happens. Good luck and don't stress too much about it.

HEY , YOU ARE 100% ENTITLED TO MEDICAID. MEDICAID IS INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF BENEFITS THAT YOU ARE ENTITLED TO ONCE YOU BECOME A PERMANENT RESIDENT. I WAS IN THE SAME SITUATION WHEN I WENT TO VISIT MY HUSBAND A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. I HAD A MISCARRIAGE AND WAS TAKEN TO ER. WHEN I ENQUIRED ABOUT MEDICAID COVERING THE BILL I WAS TOLD THAT IF I HAD MY PERMANENT RESIDENCY STATUS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. ONCE YOU FALL PREGNANT YOU ARE COVERED BY MEDICAID UNTIL YOU GIVE BIRTH, HOWEVER THE BABY WILL STILL BE COVERED BY MEDICAID EVEN AFTER YOU HAVE GIVEN BIRTH. HOPE THIS HELPS!
