I have leaved in the US for 2 years and six months. i.e 32 months. At this point since my husband is a US citizen I could file for citizenship at the 36th month (90 days before meeting continuous residence) which would have been in April this year. But I left the US (after 2 and a half years which is 32 months) since my husband got a job in the UK. I have been here since January 2008 and its now five months that I have been out ot the US. I filed for a reentry permit before I left but have not received it yet.
I have an unconditional green card for 10 yrs
We intend to go back to the US after 3 to 4 yrs when my husbands contract is done.
We intend to keep filing our taxes in the US.
My husbands family is in the US so we will have to visit the US once every year.
We do not own a home in the US (i.e for address and morgage)
My questions are:
1.) Can I still apply for citizenship while outside the US?
2.) Do I need to go back to the US before 6 months pass so as not to break my residence and if I do that can I still file for citizenship?
3.) Since I have already filled for a reentry permit do I need to change my address online?
4.) If I change my address online which address should I give? The UK address or my Husbands mums address in the US (because we will be visiting her every year.)
5.) I intend to join a PhD program in the UK which will take me three years (does being a student make my case easier or harder or it doesnt matter)??
Guys Please I need your Help.
