My fiancee' and I are at a stage where we're in serious need of a sponsor, and our only realistic options aren't looking too reliable at the moment. I understand this is an unusual request, but if there is anyone who would be willing to sponsor a couple in need, or atleast consider it, we would both be very grateful!

Once I arrive in the US, I wont need any financial assistance from the sponsor, we're really only looking for a signature to complete the one part of the visa process that we're struggling with.

It's hard to keep up with this forum sometimes, so private messages are very welcome at this stage. Thanks in advance to anyone who offers to help or gives us useful advice.

What you should do is talk to relatives and friends and boss at work or colleagues - those who know you should be willing to help you as long as you can convince them that the sponsored party will not really need the financial need that they are attesting to, because you will be able to take care of your fiance/wife sufficiently. Those who don't know you (like us on VJ) and do not have any idea of what your capabilities are - should not be your source for co-sponsorship - its very disturbing to me at the very least. However, if you were my neighbor that would be entirely different. Good Luck

I agree. There is no one in your life who could help you out?

In my life? Yes, but I'm not the USC. My fiancee' in the US is the one with few options. I know asking on here is a stretch, and we're still hopeful of one of our options will work out, but I'm not ashamed to ask on VJ.

oh i just remembered something .........there is something on the form that allows u to use some of ur assets as proof of support as well as ur s/o is there any chance that the two of u with ur families could put together enough liquid assets to prove sponsorship?

Have your USC fiance talk to his friends/relatives/co-workers. This is not very hard unless you live in a completely isolated area. All the co-sponsor needs to be is a US citizen or Permanent Resident (and yes make enough money) - so even a friend of yours who is a permanent resident can help - for example one of my wife's brother lives here and he can co-sponsor her (if her fiance doesn't meet the 125% level). Your fiance needs to be convincing enough to sell his case - again not very hard to do. You do not want to pledge your first born or something like that to some unscrupulous person lurking here! Good Luck

Hey,

I do agree that visajourney may not be the best place to find a co-sponsor, as everyone on here is well aware of the responsibility that goes along with being a co-sponsor. Not saying that you would EVER become a public charge, but if you were to , then the person who is your co-sponsor would be financially responsible for you.
I do not, however, agree that it is "disturbing" that you asked this, as I understand you guys are getting desperate and desperation calls for desperate measures, however I just don't think VJ is the best place to ask. Mainly because no one can vouch for you on here, and no one knows you, and I just don't see people being willing to co-sponsor a person they don't know. Also, not sure if you'd want a random person to co-sponsor you anyways, as things could turn ugly if something were to happen.

Of course I wish you the best of luck and I really do hope you are able to find a co-sponsor.
Once again, good luck and best wishes.

It may be time to consider a change in plans and/or priorities so that you become qualified to sponsor before she comes to the USA. You'll need a means of support in the USA to make a marriage work. Is there something preventing you from doing that now and delaying her arrival until you can support her?

It's the other way around, I'm the one who's going to the US on a visa. She will be working by then, but she would have only been working for around 3 months at that stage and I'm not confident that would be enough. I'm working but my income doesn't come into the equation, obviously.

Given the gravity of the responsibility, I wouldn't even be willing to cosponsor for a close relative. It's much more than just signing a document--the responsibility is real and enforceable. Consider the recent thread here on VJ where a beneficiary is asking about suing the cosponsor for support to remain in the U.S. after a divorce. Too many people take signing the I-864 too lightly.

Planning and behaving like responsible adults is diffucult sometimes. Nobody ever accused me at being good at financial management but one of the first things I did when I thought I might be taking and international relationship seriously was to look into the requirements and qualifications to determine whether or how it might be feasible to accomplish. Fortunately, I didn't have to change priorities except spending patterns. Even then, business suffered with each visit and a month before the interview, I didn't know how I was going to pay for two airline tickets to get my wife and daughter to the USA. Fortunately I was blessed with signing a major new account that covered things quite nicely.

One option for the OP is to simply delay the interview until she has more time on the job.

To my mind, that is the best option.
