Welcome back Jen! Hope you had a great trip. My petition is at the review stage for I864 and ds230. Unfortunately, I overlooked one part that I got a checklist for from NVC. I didn't write my name on question 1 of the I864. I overnighted the form yesterday and hopefully will be delivered today and then back to waiting.....I was hoping to have my case completed by first or second week of September so that my husband could get an interview in October. Let's see what happens. The reason you may have gotten a checklist is because they received your I864 while back and now just received your ds230. So it may be a false RFE. You want to call NVC and clarify this. Good luck....once again, welcome back.

I hope you get approved real soon!! While you are waiting for an approval, have your wife fill out the ds3032 form/sign and send it to you. After approval, once your petition has been assigned a NVC case number and the AOS fee bill and ds3032 have been generated, you will then send the ds3032 asap. I strongly suggest to send the e-mail and mail out a hard copy as the hard copy will be entered into their system sooner than an e-mail.

Original PCC from the Passport Office (Government of India Ministry of External Affairs Passport Office)
Original Birth Certificate of the beneficiary (If in a foreign language send the origianl English version as well)
Origianl Marriage Certificate along with original Ceremony Certificate from the temple where the ceremony took place
2 2x2 photos of the beneficiary
Photocopy of the beneficiary's passport

KAHM, my wife and I are working on obtaining all of these right now...at this time we are only missing a PCC from delhi and an employment letter from my employer ( i am waiting for this because i am supposed to get a raise this month and i will get it soon after my new salary is reflected)...the rest we already have in possession....so hopefully NVC comes soon........

i called NVC earlier this morning. they said that the IV bill is showing as paid but that the DS-230 is still under review.. it's been a week already.. hurry up! hehehe.. just kidding..

so that letter was because i paid the IV bill online on the same day they sent the letter. or something like that. false RFE.

i'm kinda hoping for an october interview too, KAHM. october or september will be ok. that gives me time to accrue PTO from work so that i can go to the interview with him.. i already told him to start packing his things..

so they were both sent in to NVC together, right? i don't think it will hurt if you send in the hard copy now.. or maybe wait til friday. you don't need to send it in express.. there's no point. i said friday because they might not have generated it yet.. but i don't think it will harm it if you send it in..

Jen, you should hear case complete any day now. Just call them every day to find out. And you will continue to receive things in thew mail, eventhough you have taken care of them on-line.

Rajaa, keep trying to get the IIN number. When they invoice the AOS, then you can send in the Choice of Agent.

Jen, most likely you will hear of a case complete sometime next week.

Well, my I864 reached NVC on 8/28 and is under review. Hoping to have my case completed by next week or before 9/12 so that my husband could be assigned an interview date in October.

My case has been completed at NVC as of 8/29. I called NVC this morning to check for an updated status and was very surprised to hear that the case has been completed. I guess they took one day to review the RFE response. Now will wait for an interview date.....

KAHM, congratulation on case completion....i am guessing ur interview will be set up in mid/end-october. hope its sooner...

Thank you so much. My guessing times for the interview are the same (sometime after Oct 15th I think). I really hope that your petition gets approved soon! Since my process at NVC has been completed and have a better understanding of the process, I think the whole process at NVC could be completed in less than three weeks. It does depend on how long it takes the NVC to generate the ds3032 and AOS fee bill (both are generated at the same time). The way to save time is..... as soon as the ds3032 is generated, express mail (overnight) the hard copy of ds3032 to NVC. The ds3032 will be accepted and entered into NVC's system in about two days. At the same time, the AOS fee bill could be paid online. After a day or two the status online will change to 'Paid' for AOS fee, express mail the AOS packet. The NVC takes a day or two to generate the IV Bill after accepting the ds3032. Once the IV bill generates, pay it online. The following day or two, the status online for the IV bill will change to 'Paid' and then the ds230 packet could be express mailed. All this could be possible in about a week and a half and then wait for them to review the I864 and ds230 packets (average of about a week to review). So this is about three weeks. It took 10 days for NVC to accept my ds3032 e-mail. One note, as soon as NVC assigns a case number to your petition start trying to obtain the Invoice Identification Number. I called during night time (10pm est). Hope this will save you some time at NVC......

thanks KAHM for sharing this information...i have seen many people here struggling to get their IIN number. i just want to educate myself and understand if the NVC notifies u of ur IIN number (is it written in any of their communications) or is calling them the only option??

The IIN is included in the IV Bill that you will receive in the mail. This will take too long! The best way is to speak to an NVC Operator.

heads up i've talked to 5 operators and so far they act like they've never heard an IIN number and don't give it. I even asked point blank... I need the IIN number for his Embassy change and no dice....

We got the approval from USCIS last week,Aug 25 (YIPPEEE!!) and it was forwarded to NVC. My husband Richard alrdy called NVC and got our case number. I know my questions are dumb but i'm alrdy cross-eyed from all the reading i did re NVC procedures and i just want to clarify from your end some of the steps so we wont have anymore problems again (we got an RFE the last time). Ok, here goes:

1. Once, we have the case # and IIN, we pay the I-864 (Affidavit of Support) online for $70. Right??

2. And after a few days, the payment status will show as PAID. We will then, print out the I-864 Barcode coversheet from the site and mail the AOS Package to NVC. Question: Where will we get the AOS Package??

3. I got a copy of the DS3032 and DS230 online (downloaded). Is it the same as the one NVC generates? If it is, can i fill it up now and send it to my husband (I'll be sending it together with the required documents for the IV Package: 2 passport size photos, signed DS-230 Part I and unsigned DS-230 Part II, photocopy of passport, certified birth cert, certified marriage contract and police certificate)?? Correct?

2. The AOS package is basically the 864, 864EZ, and/or 864A as well as all necessary documents depending on your situation outlined in the instructions of the three forms (864,864EZ, 864A)
3. Do search for James Shortcuts or LotofPatience guide on VJ.

Just called NVC this morning, they don't have the IIN yet.

so, after i got back i went to work right away.. then around friday, 8/29, the AVR said they found info missing or incomplete and that they mailed the letter on aug 29.. WHAT THE HECK??? well of course i had to work over the weekend, then the holiday came.. then i had to work after the holiday..

ok.. i need to calm down.. so i spoke with an operator earlier this morning, asking what the heck is wrong now. she said WE DON'T HAVE A POLICE CLEARANCE!!!!!!

OH YES WE DOOOOO!!!!!! IT'S GREEN. IT'S HALF A PAGE. IT'S CALLED AN NBI CLEARANCE IN THE PHILIPPINES. WHO THE HECK IS WORKING ON MY CASE?? HOW CAN THEY NOT KNOW THAT?? THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF FILIPINOS HAVE SENT IN PETITIONS TO NVC WITH ONLY AN NBI CLEARANCE BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME THING AS THE POLICE CLEARANCE HAD THEIR CASES COMPLETED JUST FINE.. AND NOW THIS??!!!

sad to say on my part, i just lost my cool. because that is stupidity on their part.. so the operator said she will have them review it again.. JEEEEZZZZ!!

and of course i still don't have that retarded RFE that they sent.. hello... i live in the united states... letters don't take that long to arrive here..

Thanks Steve sent it email this morning... still can't get an operator to budge on the INvoice number... I requested a change of consulates on the 2nd talked to an operator and she said they're only on the email's from the 22nd of Aug.... that's great...

well that sucks...u shud go ahead and type up a letter response to that RFE stating that NBI is the same as a police certificate in the Phillipines. This way when u get the RFE letter u can send the response in right away..good luck and i have a feeling that ur case will be over very soon.

Sorry to hear this. Like cmnb said you can write a letter of explanation to NVC regarding the Police Clearance and express mail it to them. Use the same address but Attn: to DR. The checklist for my I864 RFE was received in the mail on 9/4 and the rfe was issued on 8/27. Hope things work out at NVC.

It's good to see that things are progressing for you. Finally on the correct route! E-mailed ds3032 takes about 10 days to be accepted by NVC. Try express mailing the ds3032 form as well, it'll be entered into NVC's system in about 2-3 days.

problem with that is i don't have one signed by him.......the ds3023 that is.

And yes it is nice... on hold for an NVC operator now... fingers crossed maybe someone will give me the dang IIN number this time

Hi Jen!!! M sorry to hear about the NBI Clearance. Yes, some people used it & it worked. I'm actually thinking of sending both police clearance and NBI clearance. I got my police clearance last week and it looked like the NBI too. I paid Php400 - for visa application purpose (they asked if its for embassy, work, business, etc.) plus P125 for electronic something. Its white and has your picture (colored, they will get it on the spot) and thumbmark on it.

Also, can i clarify re DS-3032?? My husband didnt get the copy of DS-3032 yet. Can i email NVC the Choice of Agent now and will just send them the Original DS-3032 once it gets to me????

Raja, both of us are waiting for that DANG IIN, lol!!! The operator said we have to give them time - I hope it won't take a month for them to release it!!!

you know... i called 5 operators today and even talked to a supervisor and they won't give it to me... the supervisor said that anyone gets the number is doing it wrong and should wait.... i asked why is that? he said "everyone else has to" my reply was "noooo they don't not if they can get it from you"

Here's my tip of the day:

I was calling like crazy and asking for the 'IIN' number ,,,no one knew what I was talking about. The first time I changed my wording to 'Could you give me the 'invoice' number?' they give it right up.

Couldn't hurt to try, right? It worked for me last night.

I emailed he DS3023 on the 2ndof sept when they said they have issued the ds3023 and aos bill... but didn't get an automated response did it again sept 6th got one immediatly. Called the AVR today and it said they sent both documents sept 4th.

I just sent it from an email account of his. YOu're welcome to email then snail mail it... some are saying it takes 2-3 weeks for the email to be input in the system and less time for the hard copy once they recieve it. Some are also saying it takes only a week. Either way get something going is my suggestion Sassygirl.

P.S. I submitted a request from my congressman regarding our change of consulates... hoping if they put a little pressure it will happen sooner than later we'll see...

you can download and send in the hardcopy if you like don't wait for it to show up in your box... also call and try TRY to get your INN number so you can pay your bill online you'll save yourself weeks doing this..

I just downloaded the DS3032 but it says on the top PLACE CASE BARCODE STRIP HERE BEFORE MAILING TO THE NATIONAL VISA CENTER...what is that barcode?? Where will i get it?

you can make your own bar code (see james' short cuts) I just emailed mine. On Saturday again and finally got the automated response that they got it..

Remeber to my husband cannot leave until December when his employment contract ends so even though it takes 2-3 weeks for them to read the email I am not too overly concerned I just like things to be done with.. you know?

You do not need the hard copy. You can just send the e-mail. Then you do not need to make any barcodes.

We received the hard copy about a week after our Choice of Agent was accepted. It took about 10 days for them to accept our Choice of agent.

My case completion date at NVC has been updated to 9/5. I still am hoping for an October interview.

I recieved my hard copy ds3023 and AOS fee bill yesterday in the mail. Sassy you should get an automated response within 24 hours i would think... stating from the NVC that they've recieved your email...
