I dont know guys either we populated so much to process the cases of our police reports or the government departments are becoming very much greedy and egostatic.

I got my husband's passport in 10 months

I got my marriage certificate in 30 days with special marriage act but i paid 20 thousand to make it done on time plus i paid 13 thaousand to newspaper for printing the notice and 8 thousand to foreign newspaper to do the same. that means i got my marriage certificate in 40 thousand.spent 2 months in india almost lost 6 thousand dollars.

I got husband's birth certificate in a week which is a good part.

I got PCC from SSP office in 8 days with 5 Visits to SSP office and spent 1 thousand rupees.

Waiting for PCC from passport, which is driving me crazy, already visited 2 times and almost 20 days gone.

For PCC i must suggest you that you should mention immigrating country name.

Good luck guys

Getting a PCC from the passport office is a fairly simple process.. You just go there, fill up a form (which is the same form that is used for new passport) and it asks you to mention the country you want it for.. It takes 1-2 days to get and the fee is Rs. 300
Getting a PCC from the Local Police is a bit tricky because they have recently changed the procedure where a manual check is done for the applicant in all the stations in that district (mine were 22 stations). It is a good idea for all people who have got their NOA2s to apply for a PCC from the local police as early as possible and also keep calling them to check the progress... A little money here and there doesn't harm either tongue.gif
Also a good idea to let them know you want the PCC in english

Tell me about it....the PCC counter in the passport office sent my wife back asking for more proof of residence even though she showed them her existing passport, ration card, drivers license and utility bills blink.gif They wanted her to produce either a voter id card or a letter from her housing society saying that she lived there....I have never heard that before...and all this after standing in line for about 30 minutes... mad.gif

PCC form Passport office should be easy .... besides the long line

PCC form District Police Station ... i don't know how long it takes ........ it could be long ....

NVC says if you got your passport 6 months prior to the interview .. you only need PCC form the Pass Office ....

my question is ... the 6 mon rule is for brand new passport ??

( i mean i never had a passport in my life and i got one 1 month ago) Vs ( my passport expired and i replaced it i month ago)

I would think it means for both but am not sure. It all depends on whether the passport office does a new PCC at the time of renewal of passports. I guess you could ask the passport office to find out instead of trying to ask NVC or the consulate which may be harder to contact.

In my consideration the passport issuance date doesn't change on renewed passport, that means your police clearance is older and it was done when applied first your passport.
if police re-inquire for your renewed passport and change the issuance date as well, the you dont need PCC from local police.
