It's always a great idea to keep up to date with the people who filed the month before & after you!, (and the same month ofc) So being an April filer I thought I would come in and say Hello and welcome! , Heres to a speedy journey!

Congratulations to all of you for making past the first great hurdle - which is actually filing the petition. I'm glad that you've started this thread because the waiting game, especially for the CSC, can be both draining and sometimes demoralizing. I've found that the support of co-filer's to be a wonderful way to get through the ups and downs of this time. Good Luck to everyone and keep the discussion flowing....

We will be filing in the next couple of days. The application is with Chris in the States right now and just needs his passport photo. I am constantly nervous and keep checking VJ for anything I may have missed. I guess here begins the waiting game. Once we get our stuff off to CSC I will add a signature.
Here's to staying sane through the process.

Just take it one day at a time and remember to breathe.

I thought I would feel so much better once the petition was off...but really, that was just the beginning. When you feel bad, let yourself feel bad...and when you have a good day, don't feel guilty for it! It's ok to have a good day, even when you're waiting and you can't be together. We're all in this together and we'll make it through.

Hey stardusted welcome and I hope you have a smooth journey. I know what you mean by nervous. We sent ours off on the 30th of April and I'm still constantly trying to work out if theres anything we did wrong or missed out or anything remotely bizzare that will crop up and cause problems.
but I guess I'm just a nervous person. Someone has to only look at me and I feel like I've done something wrong even when I havent.

To all who have made it.. congrats

To the once who are all most there or have started getting any reply sort of from the USCIS/NVC/Consulate.. All the very best in all that has to follow and i hope and pray you get your visa

To the once sailing the boat that i am.. please help me when you hear from any of the centers...
My fiance who lives in CA has sent the petition to the center closest to him - Laguna Niguel on the 15th of May 2008... i am here looking at the internet to check and estimate time on when he would get his first letter and what to do after he recieves it.
We have sent all the documents asked or mentioned on all possible websites about the K1 Visa and we also have met in person 8 months back.
Do keep me posted on every step that you go forward with, this way it would ease out the process and i wil do the same if i hear from USCIS any earlier than you..

Hey, great to have more company!
What you are waiting for next is your noa1 which a form of reciept from csc. I think it has noa1 on it in brackets and a numerical code for the form which I can't remember right now and on wrong computer to bring up the copy.
Vito is also in Cali, and he sent ours off on the 30th of April. The recieved it on the 1st may and generated our noa1 (this is the date it has on it) I didn't arrive at his until at least the 4th I think. After you have your noa1 its a waiting game till noa2 and from what I gather with csc its about a 4.5 to 5 month wait . I'm guessing that as there have been a few january guys approved this month. Hope this helps

I'm not sure about Vermont, I think they are taking a little longer than csc to dish out the noa1s, you are not the only vscers I've seen on here commenting about this. Look out for William wallace on here he has a may thread and filled and Vermont in early may also. Look in my profile and see if my post in his thread is still there. He was having the same problem. But the bright side you'll be looking at a lot shorter wait for your noa2 that us cscers as Vermont is way quicker on that.
Best of luck to all.

We'll be filing at the CSC so hopefully they'll get the ball rollin' and we can get a speedy approval!

I think it's the proof of meeting/relationship that gets me most anxious. I keep thinking of *new* things to add to the application, and then keeping scanning and sending Chris more documents and I'm all, "Check your e-mail! Print those documents! Life and death!" I feel really nervous that I'm not the one mailing it off to CSC because I've been reading up like crazy on the process and Chris really hasn't. I find all sorts of new things to worry about all the time.

You know what? I was too! Vito even had 130 pages of skype chat that he didn't know what to do with. But the others were really helpful and said that the petition is to establish that you have met within the last two years and at the interview is when you establish bonafide relationship. So in the end we sent photocopies of my tickets from the last trip, copies of some tickets for his train with my name on from said trip, I think he sent a reciept of his trip when we first met and photocopies of the stamps and picture pages of my passport. Then we sent some photos of us together and I think in the end he did sent a small selection of the chat but not too much. I must admit I did find other bits I wish we had sent but It was too late by time I found it. If they need more they can rfe us. Worrying just gives you an ulcer.
get him to sign up to here if you want him to read up more.

Hi all, great thread!
We sent our petition off initially to nebraska who sent it back to us and told us we had to send it to CSC. we sent it off on somthing like 18th april 08(but cant be sure) and got our NOA1 hard copy on 22nd April 08. Our case had been updated yesterday and, even though i know i shouldnt get my hopes up, its still a good feeling to know that it was at least touched/moved/looked at and its not just sitting still somewhere in a dark storage room
We have moved our initial date for the wedding of october 25th to jan 10th (hopefully this gives enough time)
Good luck to everyone! really is good to speak to ppl iin the same boat! How do i keep track of this forum?

I'm in the same boat as well...I keep Sarah pretty informed, and she does research, but I sit at work for will literally comb over VJ forums and google for anything all possible information that might be needed/included. I will say VJ's checklist is pretty straight on, and apart from adding tidbits for the proof of relationship/proof of having met, I think it will be sufficient. I get worried that I haven't added enough correspondence for proof of on going relationship...hopefully 8 pictures of us together, 6 months worth of phone bills, a few emails, and cards will suffice? If not, I have a photobucket account that has around 2GB of pictures from my visit to her in March if they would accept that!

Remember - the proof of an ongoing relationship is less important than the proof of having met. Some pictures, the letter of intent and a few e-mails is sufficient. This topic will, of course, be revisited at the interview.

I couldn't tell you how much time i have wasted trying to do the maths and work out a reasonable expectation for when this or that is gunna happen.

I know nothing is garenteed, but I'm betting

based on the fact that they started processing some january filers this may that we may

start seeing may filers getting their NOA2s at the end of august early september. well at least I hope so
Im just not sure about the average time frames for the proccesses after.

don't panic yet. you will only get a hard copy noa1 in mail no email. how did you pay?

perhaps you could check if they cashed your check? we sent ours and they recieved it next day. but when they posted our noa1 (dated may1st) we didnt get it till the fourth. and we are in the same state as the csc. just because you used certified doesnt mean they will when it comes to posting to you, so it could be that its on its way still.

I've seen this same question many times, in fact I even think I asked it myself.....
When you get your NOA1 you will find that it has a case number.....or if you wrote a check for the filing fee and that check has cleared the bank you will see a long number on the back... you can take that number and log into the USCIS website and set up an account with them. When you've done this you will see your petition and on that same line you will see a "last updated" date. When that last updated date changes we call that a "touch".
What happens is that whenever your file is handled the handler wands a UPC tracking code on the cover of the file. This way the office knows where each file is, and who has been working on it. It helps track the file and helps to keep things from getting lost. When the wand registers a particular file (it's being handled or moved) then the system updates the file with a changed updated date.
What is common to see is a NOA1 date (in my case it was 1/29/08) and a last updated date soon after (in my case 1/30/08). The joke is that this "touch" was actually putting the file into a box, where it will sit for 4 months waiting for a case officer to handle it. I hope this helps explain it.

May 21 2008, 06:12 PM
Well... the department of homeland security has cashed my check and it cleared yesterday (May 20). So I guess that means something, right?
Will the powers that be cash your check/money order, and then review your package and check for errors/further proof/anything you might have over looked?
OR
do they check to see if you've correctly filled out all paperwork/done all things necessary before cashing your check?
I dunno I didn't see much in the FAQ regarding this matter. . . but I'm not too smart.
I'm happy to at least know they've cashed the check.
Jason&Sarah
May 21 2008, 06:14 PM
No idea, but likely I'd imagine they do a quick check to make sure payment is included and then process the payment before they do any of the actual combing of the petition. That would be my guess...
conway

That's pretty much what I was thinking too, but I needed to ask, since I've yet to receive any NOA.
Hannah+Vito
May 21 2008, 06:42 PM
from what i have gathered listening to others on here. they take your check or payment when they recieve your petition and cash it, and send out a noa1. after which they put it in the queue with everyone else to be processed. apparently they are ment to be processing petitions in order of reciept. so techniqcally those who filled before you are ment to be processed first. when its your turn your case will be assigned an officer and then they will look at your file and depending on whether you are missing anything, approve you or rfe you. blake posted a better explanation above.
Jason&Sarah
May 21 2008, 07:31 PM
Also, I'd gather NOA1's are going to take some time to mail out, so if they cashed your check yesterday, then I'd say you should get your NOA1 hopefully within the next week or so...

I'm amazed. I think I counted no more than 20 fillers at california service center for may on igors list and we are almost at the end of may. I was expecting a lot more after looking at the amount from january and feb.

Whats everyone else doing in limbo land? I was thinking about checking out my vaccination records and thinking about having a chat with my doctor as i think I'll need her hand writting at some point anyhow.

I'm also thinking

about that hpv vaccine since it takes,

what was it six months to finish the course? and dont you need it to complete aos?

Apparently any vaccination you dont have, the docs at the medical can do them for you, however this does cost a lot and so its better off doin it with your own doctor. What vaccinations are needed tho doea any1 know? AND whats the HPV vaccination? If u started it here can you complete the course in USA and does it have to be completed in order for you to apply for ASOS?

the hpv (think i got it right), its the vaccine for the virus that attributes to cervical cancer i think its the human paplova something or other. apparently if you are female and under 27 you need it, well thats what people have been saying and they also say its done in three injections. apparently its a new requirement. look in the united kingdom forum and there is a pinned thread from jeraly. she found the information about it.
as for the vaccinations in total i'm still looking it up i did find it on the embassy in uk perhaps you can try your embassy site.?

from what i have read in other posts its done in three injections and over six months buts only from reading others posts its not official info, i have yet see offical site stating how its done so dont take it for gossple to you read it yourself. cos im not it is on the us london embassy list though i have seen that. amd it did show a age cut off of 27 for females so that seems right. the others also said it seems while you can deffer it till you are in usa you cant for aos. again this is from other peoples observations. which is why if the timeframe and this is true im gunna research and find out now

Human papillonomavirus its called and apparently you do need it (well UK applicants at least) U can get it on NHS
""Two HPV vaccines have been developed. Gardasil, developed by Sanofi Pasteur MSD received its European license in September, 2006 and was launched in London in October. It is now available and can be prescribed by a GP on an FP10 NHS prescription. It is also available privately. The other vaccine, Cervarix, developed by Glaxo Smith Kline is expected to be licensed by mid-2007""
ALSO (sorry bit of crazy internet surfing to figure this out) take a look at this link
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry1868095from what i understand, its best to start the course of the vaccinations now and then (if u dont have time to complete in your country) you can complete the last one in USA. AOS takes months to come through in which you have plenty of time to get the last jab sorted.
I have a question though...... Some vaccinations arent available in UK...does this mean that I dont have to get it or that i have to sort it out nd get them when I get to the USA (eventually!!!!!!!)

This is the chart I've seen before.
From what I can gather it applies to me and it will be done with 3 injections at 0 months, 2 months and 6 months. I'm still unsure about being able to get it from the nhs or even just paying at my gp. I think I will contact a London civil surgon in London and go have a chat with my gp.

, we are entering the last week of may and our petition has only been at the csc a paultry 26 days, and already I think I'm suffering from limbo syndrom lol. I also see that there are about 27 of us may filers on igors csc list (i found that bad habit on the january topic

)

What is everyone else doing while they wait on csc?
Igors CSC list....what is that??...I'm not sure if I seen that? http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/igor/vjdata/stats.aspx somebody called igor created it from using the data from everyones timelines you can see stats between the different service centers and who else is still waiting.

Apparently any vaccination you dont have, the docs at the medical can do them for you, however this does cost a lot and so its better off doin it with your own doctor. And just to report - packet was mailed on Friday 5/23/08 and was received 5/26/08 to the P.O. Box...hopefully should be picked up today then!
