YuAndDan once showed me that I could obtain a copy of my tax transcript free of charge from the IRS. When I looked at the application form, transcript with 1044 only takes 10 days, however, if W-2 and 1099 data are to be included, it would take up to 45 business days. Do I need W-2 and 1099 data to be shown? Based on the time frame, I am trying to decide if I should use my own tax backup copies or go with the transcript. Thanks.

You can use your own copies - make sure to include the copies of W-2s and 1099s if applicable. I never submitted transcripts, but you could if you want (and have the time). Good Luck

For my interview, I had the IRS transcripts, but the Consulate only wanted the copies of the 1040 and W-2 for the last 2 years. They did not even look at the transcripts and gave them back to me.

Thanks. But if I don't intend to use bank savings, do I still need to provide 1099?
