on n-400 form page 5 , Question G, "how many times has your current spouse been married?" ... if my husband has only one marriage (current marriage w/ me), and has never been marrieage before.. so in the box should we type 1 or 0?? please help... thx!!
The old N-400 explicitly asked for the total number of marriages your spouse had including your present marriage, that is easy to figure out if you can count previous ex's and add to that your current spouse.
Had to call my attorney on this one as this question seems to infer only the previous marriages, but was told to write down all the marriages including the present one.
In my case, married once before, the answer was two, if your spouse was never married before, but married to you now, the answer is 1.
Seems like a redundant question as the form also asks:
B. If you are now married, give the following information about your spouse:F. If you were married before, provide the following information about your prior spouse. If you have more than one previous
marriage, use a separate sheet(s) of paper to provide the information requested in Questions 1-5 below. For the applicant, and for the spouse:
G. How many times has your current spouse been married (including annulled marriages)?
If your spouse has ever been married before, give the following information about your spouse's prior marriage.
If your spouse has more than one previous marriage, use a separate sheet(s) of paper to provide the information requested in
Questions 1 - 5 below.
And in your proof, have to provide divorce or annulment copies of all previous marriages plus your current marriage certificate.
A key question is
2. Prior Spouse's Immigration Status of your US. citizen's spouse's prior marriages I gather to trick you into listing if your US citizen spouse is marrying immigrants to bring them into this country. Fortunately, my one previous marriage was a natural born US citizen. No, I am not marrying immigrants to bring them into this country with no history of that.
We want to answer all these questions in a complete honest way, but they don't make it easy. And we are making the effort to do this legally, otherwise, we wouldn't have applied in the first place.
There are bad people in this country smuggling in either young girls and locking them up in houses of prostitution or complete families and locking them up into salve shops, they don't even bother with forms. These are the true criminals that the DHS should be going after.
