Dear all,

I am writing this as a last rescue for help and advice.I am french and I arrived here with my son in 2007 from the UK where i stayed there with my ex partner for 9 years. I had to leave the UK as my ex partner was very mentally abusif and was frightening my son and i. I find refuge at my sister and my brother in law house here in the states who are both citizen. My son has been able to restart a life on the side of his cousins and is been able to achieve very good grades here in the states and has settled in the States very nicely.
As soon as i arrived here on a tourist visa i filed an application of sponsor from my brother in law for myself. In the past year i have been totally in the charge of my family as i do not wish to do any illegal work or taking the place of american employee.

I only truly and sincerely wish to restart a new life here in the states and would love to be able to be given the chance but seem to be stuck against a wall of immigration rules that dont always make sense.
I have been told to get married to an american just for papers by some and if this is the only option do you know any place where i can find someone to do so because i am now out of options to enable my son and i to have a normal life.

Thanks for your time

No one in this forum will give you the advise to marry for a greencard. Not cool.

Listen, you said it yourself; so be ready to have people respond accordingly. And again, no one here will advise you on how to marry for a greencard --- this is not what this website is about.
Seems you also have overstayed the period you are allowed to stay in the US (depends on when on 07 you entered), so you could be subject to deportation. I suggest you go to the Department of State website and find out about the Diversity Lottery -- seems the only way.

Immigration to the US is EXTREMELY difficult. Your brother in law cannot sponsor you and it would take about 12 to 15 years for your sister to do so - providing she is a USC. It sounds like your only options are to either leave the US and return to the UK or France... or remain here illegally. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. sad.gif

Well, let me put it this way: Of course a mariage based AOS is an option but we have to be clear that getting married just to recieve a greencard is illegal and nobody here will say "yeah, go for it".
Indded, the only option I see is to go back to the UK or France and try to get a visa the legal way. How your options are with that I don't know, I guess that depends on how long you have been overstaying on your current visa.

I can't find anything about the 12 to 15 years for her sister - if, she is, in fact a citizen, can she not sponsor as "Family Fourth Preference (F4)"? It's not that I doubt you, I simply can't find it, and would like to know, for my own knowledge. Plus, F4 is limited to 65,000/annually, I think?

If the sister is an LPR, she cannot, plain and simple.

The article mentions that it will take several years to bring a sibling to the US. If they speak about several, 12-15 might not be unrealistic.
But it would be interesting to have some real numbers...

Sister is a US citizen from the OPs post. However, from UK that is still showing 1997 as a current date....11 years

The option you suggest is a crime. However, one option would be a bona fide marriage relationship with a US Citizen. Are you open to such a relationship? If so, put your dating shoes and dress on and get started.

This is what I don't understand, where is this information, about UK showing 1997 as a current date?

Did you have the father's permission to bring the son to the U.S. permanently? If not, you may also be in violation of international law.

Aha, thanks, both of you. I used to get the Visa Bulletins, but somehow, I stopped receiving them.
