I'd like to help get a family member over here for a visit! VMP isn't an option as they are not eligible, they have offenses listed in their past, I was thinking B2 Visitor Visa? The offenses are political in nature not criminal and go back some 20 years. They don't want to buy a ticket try and use the VWP only to get turned back after an 8 - 10 hour flight. They have plenty of evidence showing steady employment, mortgage, family.. etc lots of stable and strong ties back home. They actually just want to come for a week near Christmas and go shopping.

My advise to them was to apply for the B2 avoid using the VWP and be 100% honest and spend the $130 application fee, which is less than the cost of a return ticket. If they get the Visa then buy the ticket with a US Airline and fly through Dublin or Shannon and get processed via Immigration there, just in case.

Any suggestions would be most welcome. smile.gif

Political?

I am not sure what that means, murder can be described as political .
