U.S. Embassy Consular Services
May 10, 2008

The U.S. Embassy remains open for business; however, there is a change in Consular Services. As of Monday, May 12, 2008, Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) processing has been temporarily suspended except under special circumstances.

American Citizen Services and Immigrant Visa processing continue normally.

Unfortunately I believe so sad.gif I think it might be because of Safety matters for the Personnel of being at the Embassy a limited time during this time. I hope for those with K-3 and K-1's that it get's Reinstated again soon!!

I thought K1's and K3's were processed the same as immigrant visas.

At least for other embassy websites that I have seen, they do not include K1s and K3s as NIV. They normally classify NIV as student, tourist, etc visas.

I am sure those that are there know, that another civil war is imminent [God-Willing no, but....] I was in Lebanon for the first one, before my family fled to Kuwait sad.gif. I am praying for those who are in consular process and for all the families there as well sad.gif

When we were going through K-1 (Egypt, not Lebanon, but I think it's similar) we were processed through the imigrant visa side. The K visas are NIV's with the intent to imigrate so they are processed with the imigrant visas. Intent to imigrate being the key part.

Inshalla this holds true in Lebanon as well, although I can imagine the situation over there slowing things up a bit either way sad.gif

For all of those with SO's and family in this country - you are in my prayers rose.gif
