I agree with JP...how did he get your email address in the first place? You never answered that particular question...(unless I missed it)

Personally I wouldn't be all upset over it. I'd delete it and not respond. If it is a creepy guy you met, good riddance. If it is your husband, you passed his lame "test". So you win either way! wink.gif

I agree, even if it is your husband, just ignore it - if he asks if you have received any strange emails lately then you will know it was him - cross that bridge if/when you come to it, otherwise just let it go.

Sunshine would be good for all biggrin.gif IF it were the husbands idea of a test i would sure not appreciate and wonder what his thoughts and intentions were, do girls set their guys up in this way?

You have to laugh at this, I am married with 5 kids, I am a real catch, by the way, should I leave the kids and husband home, or can they come also with me to Egypt devil.gif

it was the whole EL MAGREBI that tipped me off.

thats like el americani as a last name..
duh

There are some Nepalis with 'Nepal' as a family name.

but yes combined with all the other circumstances sounds fishy.

I totally agree. Not trying to be rude but I think its getting blown out of proportion, either its a creep fishing for a relationship for a green card or its your husband tricking you. why dont you just forward the email to your hubby and ask him to deal with it? if its him then he wont do anything and if not he can send an email to the freak and tell him to back off his wife.

as for thinking that just because someone is Muslim they are going to have higher morals, yeah that would be nice wouldnt it? every religion has standards and morals for its followers to adhere to and every religion has a lot of followers that just cant or dont stick to all of it. we are all only human, right?

I agree - you should tell your husband. Either he will deal with it, or he wont because he wrote it. If he wrote it and you didnt say anything to him you might be failing that part of his test.

Don't you think that the letter sort of looked like a form letter of some sort? It is a strange situation.

I was going to say something similar -- it looks like something generic sent out to who knows how many.

Would I post it on a board? No.

Do I care if the OP did? No.

Do I care if others think this thread is a waste of space? No.

What I do care about if the fact that, somehow or another, people believe it is now in the TOS that it is mandatory to blow sunshine up one's @ss.

That sounds a lot better than a clarinet.

I guess I expected a man of the Islam culture would never be disrespectful in that way. I guess I just thought their morals were on a higher plane than ours. But you learn something new every day.

Yes, this is a tough pill to swallow sometimes. When they turn out to have just as many vices as anyone else... it can be disappointing though!!

Id call your husband girly..

First el magrabi is NOT a last name. It means THE MOROCCAN like el musri means the egyptian or aljaziri means the algerian

And you know what is another weird thing? He used "E" for Ibrahim and "Y" for Elmaghreby...
i don't know anyone in Morocco who would have chosen to spell those frequently transliterated names with an "E" and "Y"
it would be Ibrahim al Maghrebi....

hmmmmmmmmm... curiouser and curiouser.... ph34r.gif

Yup, I agree with the masses. Although I have my doubts as to if it was ye'ole'hubby or not it IS definitely someone messing with her to see what reaction they'll get. Totally tell hubby and let him know how u feel about it. The only concern is that he might get mad that a man has ur email address to begin with. I know mine would have a total cow over that part of it. Good luck either way it turns out.

Do you think maybe your husband is checking on you? Remember, you said you don't know where this guy got your email from!!! Sounds like a set up.
Nutty
Sad and creepy...

I think the man is just confused about the morals of a western woman. And maybe he has an inflated ego that he thinks he can approach a married woman and expect of positive response.

Just don't respond.

Alot of Arabs don't know english spelling ok it doesn't matter maghrebi maghreby it's the same if you don't understand ENGLISH!!! Explain to your husbands or wives the different sounds in Y and I and watch them confuse the 2 .

Reading that letter tho and if it was to me I'd think it was a joke. When people from that part of world talk to anyone out of their culture they probably think their values are less. That's how I personally think no offense to anyone. I'm honest!!

I'm sorry, Sarah, didn't mean to get you upset... i wasn't passing judgment.
i was just pointing out that having lived, taught, and studied Arabic in Morocco, i never saw these two words transliterated into English this way... it would be like seeing Habibati spelled Habibaty... i've just never seen it like that. that's all.

Oh no i didn't get upset at you personally. I just see that alot with Arabi people they don't know the difference in the english language as someone who has been educated fully here in USA. You'd have to actually meet/talk to family member with limited english or whatever to see how it's misunderstood so it's nothing to apologize over you are crazy! star_smile.gif I wanted to help clear confusion that's how I put it in plain english laughing.gif
