we went to SSN office . in thirsday he told me i cant have my SSN now just iafter i have my EAD . then we went today and i printed some papers from social security website that show i can have it . so he is like i am sorry and i already applied for it Alhamodlilah

well that was interesting...they said he doesn't need esl classes because they have three levels and he's already passed by the third higher level. They want him to come in Wed with his resume so they can work on that and then they're setting up an interview with the company he wants to work for BUT I don't know if they understand he can't work yet. He seems to think they know but maybe they're thinking the interview process will take a while so why not get the ball rolling? I guess this particular company interviews more than just one time, sometimes you get three interviews so maybe that's the case. In any event that made one normally happy hubby even happier!

Are you having any caffiene (sp?) at all during this pregnancy? I used to still have my morning coffee but then that would be it. I'm not supposed to be drinking coffee now since we're TTC but I won't give it up yet. Maybe in a couple of months if I get motivated. I did it once for 5 years (gave up coffee and tea) and omg I still remember the withdrawal headaches!

Nope, no caffiene. The way this girl kicks already is bad enough, I can't imagine how she would be if I gave her a dose of caffiene! I just need some sleep, I haven't had very much with that IV in my arm for a week but now its out! So maybe I'll get some rest tonight!

So let me get this straight, Mohamed. You went to the SS office, they said you can't apply, you went back with documentation proving them wrong, and at that time they let you apply....is that correct?

notta lot just tired. i told my hubby this past weekend that i demand to either BE or be trying to get pregnant by this time next year. we will have to do the insimination process coz its too risky to do a tubal reversal but i pray we are able to afford it. i really want my next child to be conceived before i'm 30.

Good afternoon everyone!!! This is a sunny bright day, a bit cool for this time of year but its alright. The sun is out. Husband is beginning to freak, cause he hasn't heard from the company that sent him for drug test and physical. Its going on 2 weeks. I told him to call there, so we'll see. Well hopefully i will make it to the slumber party tonight. I got the word from hubby i must finish painting the sun room NOW!!

yes we went to that office on thursday and he said i cant have my SSN cause i got married and no more fiancee visa i said WHAT!!!!!
he said i need to get EAD first then come back to apply for SSN .
THEN we went today holding papers show i can have it

Mohamed, thats what happened to my husband. He came over on k-1 visa and we got married, and we had to wait for his EAD to come in first. Then we applied for his card and he got it, only it states on the card for work authorization only. Now that he has his green card, we have to go back and have that taken off.

that was stupid . he could get his SSN but workers there dont know what they are doing or thier jobs

They told my hubby the same thing. One of the things that made him the most nervous coming here was the language. I tried and tried to tell him that we have people that have been here for 10 yrs + that can't speak as well as he does. He just had to see it.

So I had a small surgery last week and I am BORED! I kind of want to go back to work but I am still too loopy to drive due to the drugs. My hubby took care of me last week, but now I am sitting alone. Thank God for you guys on VJ to entertain me.

I've decided to get an immigration attorney but I won't be able to do that until August when I've got enough money. There is only one in Moscow but there are several in Boise.

I am sure everything will go smoothly for you. Is the hubby up for the new addition? Insurance will not help with the cost? Do you care if you have a boy or girl? Names yet?

Life is good, different but good. It is a change for both and a process for both but it is good. Poor guy has met so many people this last week. He speaks English very good but he gets lost in the conversations because everyone speaks to fast for him to keep up. I try to get people to slow down and remind them that he is thinking in Arabic and translating to English. It will all come in time.

I wish you could have been there Nagi. I have been smiling every since he got here. It all still seems like a dream.

My fiancee called the (SSN) office in hickory NC and she asked them if we have to apply for (SSN) before or after we get married and they say it doesn't matter if you apply for it after or before getting married and she asked them if we apply for it after we get married do we have to wait till we get EAD they say NO . so i think its the same if you apply for (SSN) after of before you get married .

Yes u can file either way! This man knew nothing about this at all ! Untill Mohamed and I spoke up to him and he went to ask other person. So if anyone has problems ask for someone else there. He told us we taught him something he didnt know!!!I wasnt leaving there until he got it!

yes, its happened several times over the years on this board. Policies seem to vary by office and most people have done just what you did, which is actually print off the web pages showing its ok. that or if possible just go to a different office if there is one nearby. Just another of the many joys of dealing with immigration...
