I have a question about Part 7 of the N400 form. If the LPR has been in the US for less than 5 years, do you count how many days were spent in the home country before moving to the US? Do you consider that a trip too?

Everything is based on date of green card!

Where does this say this on the N-400 application? I would only take this on the advice of an immigration attorney or call the USCIS as to how they want this question answered.
"Part 6. Information about your residence and employment.
Where have you lived during the last five years? Begin with where you live now and then list every place you lived for the last five
years. If you need more space, use a separate sheet(s) of paper."
Tells the USCIS where you lived and worked for the last five years.
"Part 7. Time outside the United States.
(Including Trips to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands)
How many total days did you spend outside of the United States during the past five years?"
Part seven asks how many total days did you spend outside of the USA in the past five years, it does not ask how many days you spent outside of the USA since you received your permanent residence.
"C. List below all the trips of 24 hours or more that you have taken outside of the United States since becoming a Lawful
Permanent Resident. Begin with your most recent trip. If you need more space, use a separate sheet(s) of paper."
Is the first mention of the number of days you spend over 24 hours per trip since you became a permanent resident, to me, that is crystal clear. But I am not an immigration attorney so I would check with one.
