Hello everyone,
my wife immagrated from Thailand 1 year ago now. I am ready to submit paperwor to bring her 3 year old son. my question is Do we need his true father to sign for him to get the visa? In my wifes final divorce decree in thailand, it states that the father abondoned his responsibility towards the child and the court awarded her 100% custody. I hope that is good enough, because I know if it is up to him, he will not sign just to give her a hard time. Any info will be appreciated.
also anyone know any reasonable translation agencies in San Francisco area? (Thai to ENGLISH). thank you.
When Rin went to get passports for her children (for K4 visas) they told her that her ex-husband had to come sign for passport for the children (signature of both parents required). If the ex-husband will not sign or cannot be located, then the mother must go to the local amphur with two witnesses that will attest that she takes care of the child(ren) and the father does not provide any support. A form is filled out and registered at the amphur. Rin then returned to the passport office with that affidavit and received the children's passports.
Rin said the passport office gave her printed instructions on what she needed to obtain the children's passports. I am sure they have a website with the requirements, but it would be in Thai.
Goodluck,
John
