Toby sent me his last 3 years tax returns because his transcripts just didn't arrive in time - but he said there was no place on them for them to be notarised, so the notary wrote a letter stating that she had confirmed them to be accurate etc and stamped the letter.

Has anyone else had this experience?

The i-134 was completed correctly, but i'm just concerned about the tax returns.........

I only sent tax returns and i didn't have them notarized. I wasn't worried about it either. just so you have bank statement, letter from employer, and paycheck stubs you'll be fine. also since your not planning on moving right away if they need the transcripts you can send them in when they come and you'll still get your visa in plenty of time.

at Damian's interview they only asked for paycheck stubs and the co-sponsors notarized I-134.

if you have everything else in order. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Best of luck to you!!

Thanks - I was getting a bit wigged out about this!
I don't have bank statements though. But I do have the letter from employer and I-134 etc...

All a notary can really do is say that the person appearing before them is who they say they are. They can't really verify the validity of documents. If he sent you his copies of his tax returns, you'll need to have the documents that go with the return -- namely his W2 or any form 1099s (if applicable).

That said, they most often don't take the tax returns anyway (unless the person is self employed). But I'd rather err on the side of caution and have everything.

All it said on packet 4 was 'notarised copy of latest years tax return'.........so I got the last 3 years and figured it would be enough. It didn't say anything about W2 or 1099. I don't have the slightest idea what they are. The forms I have are number 1040EZ. I also have his Social Security Statement which shows his earnings since 1992!! They can't go further back than that! lol

I was only asked for the notarized I-134 & job letter. I had tax returns that were not notarized, but they didn't ask for them.

I'm sure you'll be fine. All the best with your interview!

It's sp weird that you were asked for a notarized letter of intent. it's the only time I have ever heard that asked for...and mine are not notarized.....

Ohh that was because we went past the 4 months mark from receiving P3 & the interview (embassy lost our paperwork).

So if your interview is within the four months, you wont need it.

Just a quick question to add, when you guys are talking about a letter from the employer, what kind of letter do you need? What if you have a cosponsor? I have read a few other posts where something wasn't signed or was forgotten and I want to make sure that I get everything Mark needs to him. Also when they say original documents, does that mean I have to put my actual birth certificate in there? I have seen a post that had a list of things needed but I wasn't sure about a few of them like the letter from the employer.

If you have a co-sponsor then only the co-sponsor need the employment evidence (3 years tax returns, paycheck stubs, letter from the employer, bank statements) and the co-sponsor also needs a separate notarized I-134

you as the sponsor(with a co-sponsor) just need the notarized I-134

the letter from the employer should be on the company's letterhead and consist of position at the job, salary, and length of time you been there.

original documents should be taken to the interview with a copy. they will examine the original and return them and keep the copies.
