Hi, I just called the NVC automated system and found out our NVC number for our I-130. It starts with LMA. Does eveyone´s # start with LMA, or are there different codes depending on the type of visa?

Congratulations!!
The first three letters on the NVC case number represents the consulate where you'll be interviewing.

LMA represents Lima, Peru.
See http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html

Start preparing for the documents now and 1 week later call NVC and TALK to the operator to see if your DS-3032 was generated. If it is, start e-mailing them.

There is a post by lotofpatience in the CR-1/IR-1 forum that describes the new fast NVC process. Very useful!!!

Thanks, but I´m a little disappointed seeing that we applied for a K-3 and they still haven´t approved the I-129f portion that is supposed to speed things up! I really didn´t want to do a CR-1, but it seems like they made the choice for us.

Not sure about your situation but last year I was thinking that K3 was the way to go but as I found out more and more about the K-3 process, I decided not to pursue that at all, even though it was free to apply for!!

There are so many benefits for getting CR-1...
1. you get green card and SSN right away
2. You can work right after getting your SSN.
3. No other process after entering U.S.
4. Costs much less than K-3!!

The only disadvantage you have with CR-1 is that it takes little bit more time. The only time you really saved with K3 was the NVC process time which is only couple of months now. CR-1 used to be worse but nowadays some people are passing through NVC process in less than couple of months.

Good luck and wish you all the best. And don't be disappointed with CR-1. In the end, you'll be happy!!!

Just to let you know Lima uses a post appointment process, meaning all the documents needed by the embassy are collected by the NVC before issuing an interview. The site is

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3734.html

I didn' know this, and my wife had to rush to gather the documents there in Peru just to send them to the US...urgggggggg wacko.gif !!!!

Start collecting all documents required by the checklist now. If your unclear as to what's needed, send me a message and ill get it to you.

Good Luck........
