"Being processed" is their way of saying that itīs not ready yet and you have to wait.

Put in another way, our N-400 applications are currently in the dust collecting phase. When the dust accumulates to 1/4 inch thick, they will be processed.

Wasn't that criminal/FBI check done with the first green card? Ha, went to buy a new gun and took all of two minutes to run that criminal/FBI check, and now they do that when you open a bank account as well, that also takes about two minutes.
I will stick with my dust collecting theory.

Is not having a US citizenship causing you some kind of hardship? Examples may be your former country won't issue you a new passport and you want to visit your sick mother. One of your eligible relatives is in danger and you want to file an I-130 petition to get them over here. You have been paying SS taxes and are now disabled and want to apply for disability. Not sure if there is any good reasons for wanting to vote.
If you have a hardship, can contact your senator or congressman and have them make an inquiry in your behalf, outside of this, the only thing I know of, is to wait your turn.
