Just a little of what is going on:

Lebanon stares at civil war
Gulf News Report
Published: May 09, 2008, 00:44

Dubai Lebanon inched towards civil war last night as violent clashes erupted shortly after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah warned a Lebanese government crackdown on the group was tantamount to a "declaration of war".

For the first time in its history, Hezbollah was ready to use its weapons internally to protect "our existence and dignity," Nasrallah said at a rare press conference via video link on Thursday.

A security official told media that clashes raged in several mixed neighbourhoods in Beirut, with masked men using rocket-propelled grenades, assault rifles and machine guns.

The violence began Wednesday when a general strike over mounting prices and wage demands quickly turned violent. "The [government] decisions are tantamount to a declaration of war and the start of a war ... on behalf of the United States and Israel," Nasrallah said.

Please pay that one of our JV's is safe there. Her and her daughter went to Lebanon to spend 3 months with her husband and is currently living in the madness. I hope everything is ok with them. Please pay for all of our loved ones there. My fiance is also stuck there.

I will keep Lebanon in my prayers. I was truly hoping it could keep the peace after what happened in 2006. It is such a beautiful country and has so much potential if only the violence and wars could be kept at bay.

They are worst than terrorists! I am praying for peace all over the world and especially in Palestine and Lebanon!

Thank God things have calmed down!! My husband and his family had to run from their home since there was so much shooting and fights on his street.. they'd been stuck in their home since tuesday.
I called to talk to him, when I heard the rampant shootings my heart cried. The feeling of helplesness came over me.
Now the opposition is drawing back.. and soon the ppl that fled, will be able to return home.. tho there is too much destroyed. mad.gif
I just pray that calm will remain, but things in the country have definately changed, power is not with the government.. so we have to wait and see how this plays out. unsure.gif

Dear Nita,

I am praying for you and your loved ones as I write. God is able. He knows, He sees, and He cares, even more than we ever could.

May you be forever blessed and reunited ASAP.

I think the only thing in this horrible situation is to pray! Sadly, I do not see things getting better.

I wish PEACE and REST for LEBANON soon INSHALLAH!!! IT's such a beautiful Country with amazing people, too bad some people don't have much love and respect for their own country or country men& women.
