Royal Mail only deliver to a PO Box and Embassy staff have to collect it from there. You will only find out when it gets dropped off at the PO Box and not when it is collected. I did hear that they only collect from the PO Box on Thursdays but I'm not sure how true that is.

In short, this is normal. It gets delivered, sits in the mailroom, then gets put in the pile. No biggie, par for the course.

(Note to StP: I'm waiting for you to chime in!)

Ah, but once you stop worrying and learn to love the Embassy all is much, much better. You should know that by now, Poiteen. innocent.gif
Jeraly

No they are teaching you to be self reliant and stand on your own two feet and not to rely on the nanny state. All skills you will urgently need from day one of your life in the New World.

Isn't that first class...? unsure.gif
Poiteen
star_smile.gif Actually the embassy is a lovely place filled with lovely helpful people, who are so busy doing actual work and actually helping people (even with taxes!!!) that they're too busy to reinvent Royal Mails dumb system for them (or to update the I-130 processing page that often). yes.gif

was this Packet 3 sent Special Delivery, or not? because if you don't use Special Delivery for ALL your packets, regardless of number, then you're messing with your OWN life, OMGWTFBBQ

but if you send it special delivery it goes into the main Embassy mailbox and goes through the Embassy postal system.

If you send it ordinary mail it goes for some reason straight to the consular visa section mailbox which seems to get it there several days quicker.
StillThePrettiest
I know; I did exactly that biggrin.gif

but then, I mess with my life on a daily basis (in ways mostly involving first class stamps; it's an obsession), but some people can't stand the pressure and are seduced by the wiles of Special Delivery wink.gif
Jeraly
Ahh - see I sent mine recorded delivery which didn't delay it at the Embassy, but took over a week... So if you use recorded delivery, then Royal Mail mess wif ur life!
debbylyn
So....Barry is awaiting packet 3...what is the general concensus about returning it...regular mail...or recorded delivery? We want the fastest way...lol......and also the safest!
StillThePrettiest
well, I sent mine regular mail (first class of course), and had no problems whatsoever, but have been almost excommunicated (by some) for doing so wink.gif

I think you need to decide what you're comfortable with, and do that star_smile.gif

Entertaining thread laughing.gif

I'm just sending mine First Class. Who hasn't been asked to sign for recorded delivery for a neighbour or collegue? I don't want Starbucks to sign for my petition tongue.gif

I'm just kidding..really...I'm happy seding regular mail biggrin.gif
elmcitymaven
I-130: First Class (in my pre-VJ days...)
RFE reply: Special Delivery
Packet 3: Special Delivery

For the record! wink.gif

I send everything Special Delivery. I like living on the edge and this way it gives the Post Office and the Embassy a chance to mess with my life. laughing.gif
