Took my wife to the Milwaukee Service Center yesterday for finger prints, her third set. We couldn't make the assigned appointment but were told any non-holiday at noon on a Wednesday. Ha, got there at 11:56 AM due to unreported road construction delays.
We were met by two armed guards, wife got in with her brand new shiny green card, I elected to use my photo ID VA card. Was told to pull my belt, asked what would they do to me if my pants fell down, that just got a laugh. We were the only ones there, ha, why the delays, wife had to hand fill out a form that was practically identical to the first two pages of the N-400, helped her to make sure it was identical to the N-400 application.
Two people were working in biometrics with a bit of discussion, which one will finger print my wife, a man and a woman, the man won, took her prints, ha, see they are using an electronic detector now, neat, no black fingers. Finger prints showed up large on a huge computer screen.
She was given a new book, least to me, "Learn about the United States: Quick Civics Lessons" M-638 (rev. 08/06), but was told by the officer that another 42 questions were added and I can find those at the USCIS site. Know I was tired last night, but couldn't find those 42 extra questions.
We also got a CD that essentially reads aloud the text in the book, we listened to that on the way home.
Not going to comment on our present state of government, but sure was nice listening to what the USCIS had to say about it, ha, should be mandatory listening and study for our government officials as well. And put into practice.

I counted 96 questions, plus an additional 42 that totals 138. Did find the new test with a lot of geographic questions of the USA, but not that question as Who Wants to be a Millionaire, which is the northern most state in the USA's lower 48 contiguous states. Ha, many think it's Maine, actually Minnesota. But name one state that borders Mexico, another that borders Canada.
The really big question is where are these additional new 42 questions?

I sure cannot find any additional question to the "Learn about the United States: Quick Civics Lessons" M-638 (rev. 08/06)" booklet, even without the booklet.
Was anyone else told there are extra questions? Guy told me they can be found in the http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis site, I assume under Education & Resources. Lots of stuff there, but nothing about addition questions.

I went to the USCIS home page and under naturalization go to related links on the right side of the page. there should be a link to click regarding tests, and the fact that the tests have been redesigned. Don't know what is in the booklet but the webpage was revised 4/22/08. I thnk it will give yo some insight on whatto study, what the test will consist of, and what to learn. Good luck!

Coming to the conclusion, that officer just gave us an old book, Learn about the United States: Quick Civics Lessons" M-638 (rev. 08/06) that was replaced by the much newer "A Guide to. Naturalization. M-476 (rev. 02/08)" that also contains all the test questions. Should compare the questions in each book to see if there are any changes.
USCIS also has the new test that applies to applicants after October 2008, wouldn't hurt my wife to look over those as well, people that already took the test have reported they may only ask about six questions.
Ha, remember in school having to memorize all the states and their capitals and the 27 amendments of the constitution, the names of all the presidents, but just don't use that everyday. Did read that question in the test about all government agencies must follow the constitution, but felt with the I-751, I, the US citizen was guilty of bringing my wife into this country just for the sake of immigration and even for profit until we proved ourselves innocent. Wonder if the people that write these rules took the time to read the constitution and the Bill of Rights. Or why was I searched just to go into a field office, are they concerned I am going steal that picture of Bush hanging on the wall, or even an old folding chair? And I had to show my "papers" before they let me in, this country is getting just like Nazi Germany.
Ha, couldn't help but ask the question of the officer what happened to my wife's first two sets of finger prints? 420 mile drive and a day's lost pay just to make this trip. He didn't know, he just follows the rules. We are suppose to be a country where the people question the rules made by our government. Give me liberty or give me death, but what really tees me off, is that I have only one life to give to my country.
