Bedroom door is always closed because hubster is mildly allergic to kitties and it's only fair that the bedroom be as cat hair free as possible.

Is that claustrophobia or does the space have to be smaller for it to be claustrophia?

i absolutely cannot sleep with the door open...something about the noise, the door creates a sound barrier...i am a VERY light sleeper and will wake up even if its just kitties shuffling around the living room
the only time in my life i was able to sleep with the door open was when i lived in a one bedroom alone, i never closed any doors in that apt, except the front door

I don't think it's claustrophobia. I can sleep with the door closed at a hotel, of course. Something about closed doors at home, I think.

Open, so our cat can freely move about the house. She sleeps with us in a cat bed which we have on top of our bed. Often will come up and sleep on top of or beside us

Of course, on the rare occasions when we have a friend over, the door is closed...

I miss having a kitty or two snuggled in the bed...
When hubster goes back home for summers, I let the one kitty who likes to sleep on the bed snuggle up with me...

i miss it too. but i am allergic to cats (but have them!) so its best to keep the kitty hair away from where i sleep.

I know hubster would not mind at all having kitties in the room if he didn't have the allergies. So then my answer would be keep door open....LOL

Both. When my parents are here it's closed and we use a nightlight(for baby), when they aren't here it's cracked open slightly for more light. Kavi still sleeps in our room in his bassinet so I need to be able to see him slightly during the night so it can't be pitch black.

Funnily enough, I can sleep with the window open but not the door.
Although when I'm with Alex we'll have the window closed because he's on the ground floor. And the door shut because I'm another person who is allergic to cats. The bedroom is my cat-free refuge.

Closed. We are still (STILL!) living with my parents, and even though we have an entire floor to ourselves, I'd rather not have them hear anything -- not just for the more obvious reasons (ahem) but if we have the TV on late my mom will say things like, "You were up watching TV last night at 1am -- no wonder you're tired." Makes me feel like I'm 15 years old again.

LOL I'm glad we keep the bedroom door closed for that reason. When we are having company, it because a big holding area for stuff I don't know what to do with at the last minute.

*sigh* I am also a card carrying member of this club!
But I also keep the door closed every night when sleeping. Mostly cos if we keep the dog locked in with us, she won't bark. The flip side is that the cat knocks on the door all night to get in and out as he pleases!

When our daugher is staying with us, the door is closed and locked (mainly because kids walk right up to you really close while you are sleeping, which is startling and upsetting). However, when we are home alone, the door is typically wide open, unless it's cold.
