I'm Aleisha from California. I was hoping you may have some advice for me. My fiance and I were hoping to file a Direct Consular Filing so he could move here from Wales, UK. At first reading through what I thought was everything, it seemed like we could do this...but now it appears we can't. Do you know if I have to be living overseas as an American in order for us to file this, for certain? Or can we still file with me living here in the US and him living there? And if we can, do we have to file there or can we file here after we marry? I'm upset that I didn't research as much as I thought I did because now a whole month has passed and perhaps we only qualify for the K1 or K3 option. I can't reach anyone at the consulate. Can you tell me what you know? Is there anything else I should know as well?

Yes, you have to be living overseas and married with a valid residence permit for that country to do that.
