Hi,

I am a UK citizen in the U.S. on a three year L1-B visa with over one year remaining.

I am getting married to a U.S. citizen within the next month or so.

I am a little confused as to the best route to apply for permanent residence. I would like to do this as soon as possible to enable me to work for another employer. I did some research, but most of the options seem to relate to applications where one spouse is living overseas. I don't want to have to leave whilst application is ongoing

I would appreciate some advice about which route to take, and possible timeframes (although I understand this is highly variable). I have known my fiance for 7 years and we own a house together in the states.

Thanks!
Chris

After your married you can apply for AOS.....you would be changing from L1-B to permanent resident because of marriage. You can check out the AOS guide. Good luck! You do not have to leave while your completeing AOS.
