good morning

hislittlemasriya, hopefully you will hear some news! looks like we are going to get hit with some thunderstorms today, i hope ben bailey is wrong! my son has his honors award ceremony this evening and i hope we dont get caught in a down pour walking into the school.

julianna, (the expert gardener), i want to plant this plummish color plant that is a very hearty plant, it grows pretty quick and in the beginning it blooms these flowers but then loses them, it requires trimming, do you know what the name of this plant is? i want to get it to replace my dead bush.

It's 4AM Pacific Time and I'm grubbing on cold pizza and studying for finals with breaks here and there. I set up cameras today in the Kibbe Dome for commencement on Saturday. I do that in between two finals today. Then I'm sleeping all Thursday except for to get up and feed the kitties I'm house sitting. luv.gif Love the two kitties! Plus she has internet at her house which is a bonus! I have one final left on Friday and I film commencement on Saturday from early morning to late afternoon. Yep I'm not busy pulling my hair out. wacko.gif

Hi all! Happy Hump Day and I hope the rest of this work week goes by fast!

I know this is a continued discussion from yesterday but I have a few questions:

Has anybody had a problem getting the SS card if their husband didn't get the EAD on arrival? I was wondering about this but my work is telling me that they require the letter that he is given when he applies to put him on my insurance so we will go on Friday. He will have been here 15 days by then. I was told we needed our marriage certificate, visa, passport, I 94 to bring to the office, anything else?

We went to pick up the temporary packet for his driving permit Monday and they told me that it would expire and as well as his drivers license will expire 7/23 and he would have to take the drivers test over again we should wait until he got his AOS. So we just picked up the book for him to study on. Is this common? I'm with you Ayesha, this driving thing is scary. I haven't let my husband drive yet and told him he is waiting until he gets his permit...nothing illegal no chances!

Olivia, great to see you around again! I hope all is well with you and hubby and you are successful in your finals.

Good luck to the others! Have a wonderful day!

BTW---I fixed up Wendy's for dinner last night! He ate it and didn't have probs with it! Of course not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOLLLLLLLLLLL rofl.gif

Olivia, it is so nice to see you posting. I missed you, girl !

Maureen, I am sure the expert will be able to identify your plant species for you. If you need help in the clean up , just ask Mrs. Weiser. Im sure she would be more than willing to help out. Rain you say?? Oh I hope not!

HLM, don't worry, it's getting better...just you wait and see.

AJ1, hope you feel better and let us know as soon as you get your news! Im still praying!

I don't know about the EAD stamp since we're on a different visa but all my work required was a copy of his passport stating the date that he arrived in the US since that is the date his benefits and my change of status starts. I guess each company is different though but see if they'll accept that instead? Good luck!

Still sneezing more than ever here. I'm getting sick of the aaaaaaachooooooooooo's!!! wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

My hubby didn't get EAD on arrival and had no problems getting SSN. It just takes a couple of weeks from their arrival to get "in the system". By Friday, your hubby should be in their system and you *should* have no worries! Good luck! good.gif

LOL Ohhhh Maureen! I never read the posts this early and usually skip them! It's a good thing I read!

That could be a lot of things. This is a bush, right? Does it have thorns and small leaves (very tiny, smaller than a dime in many cases, although some will be larger) (could be a barberry) or larger leaves, no thorns (purple sand cherry)? If both are nos, we'll go from here. Also does it lose its leaves in the winter-- is it deciduous or evergreen?

G'mornin and happy hump day everyone!
Jen, I'm praying for things to look up for you. My door is always open if u need a mini vacation.

Jackie, ur "spinning" is caused due to not taking ur medication. It is a known side effect when u quit taking those types of meds cold turkey. U have to taper off every other day for a week, then every other other day for a week etc etc until u can go without it completely and not have side effects. That "spinning" is no laughing matter, it can cause serious harm by causing you to fall on a whim and lose muscle control. I hope you do the right thing.

now that I've played medicine mommy for the morning, its time to go to work.

I can't say enough about the Career Center we have near us!!! Hubby went again yesterday and is signed up for classes next week on how to write your resume and how to be sucessful in an interview, along with a business esl class. They have recruiters come in monthly on a specific day for each company as well so he can interview right there on the spot! I can't wait till he gets his EAD so he can show his stuff and we can see what happens!

He told me he's going to give me hot lemonade when I get home. BLECH.
Ash * Habibati
That is really awesome!! I hope that we can find something like that around here, but I do not think there is anything close to home - I'm kinda living in a quiet area and then driving into the city (Wilmington and Philadelphia sometimes ) for work - I guess I could always drive him, drop him, go work and get him before I go home. There are lots of ESL classes here- I don't think he needs them for the language, but I think the social interaction is what he needs to work on and hopefully that would help him.

I hope that your hubby finds a great job and that it helps him!!

I think the hot lemonade sounds sweet, he's trying to nurse you back to health wub.gif

Better than my DH who thinks olive oil fixes everything? WTF hehehe

Easy access to public transportation has been a BIG blessing for us!!! It didn't take him long at all to figure out where to get the bus, what bus drops you off at the subway, etc. He's gone into boston about three times now on his own to go to a mosque that he likes there. The career center he found without any help from me just by using a street map and walking it. I found the link to it and he just found the address. The link was found by looking on the unemployment site so I bet if you go to your state's unemployment section there would maybe be similar services in your area? I hope so because it's really boosted his spirits knowing that he won't have to wait for certain companies that he wants to call him for an interview.

There are "career centers" similar to that in nearly all states and communities. The one here is connected with the unemployment office. Same sorts of classes and what nots.

Good morning from La Jolla, California!!

It's a beautiful GLOOMY day. Got up earlier than usual, took my mini-pinscher to the Vet for a dental cleaning and other procedures (poor thing!), and drove along the Pacific Coast -- being sure to make a stop at my favorite local coffee house (got two drinks - coffee and tea! *Jitters* blink.gif ). Had the sunroof open and let my hair fly (at least the strands not clipped down -- no scarf out the car).

Now am 2 HOURS early to work, so just checking on VJ yay!, and dancing kicking.gif every 10 minutes for the automatic light to come back on (yes, it keeps going off because I'm SOOO still, yeah right!)

Jackie - glad you survived - be careful

Amal - congrats on the weight loss!

Jeanne - I have a bluejay that likes to hide peanuts in my planter pots on my balcony. My husband was telling me I had a enough flowers and didn't need more. But I had to get a few marigolds - they were pretty and cheap.

Bridget - thanks for the idea about a career center. I just called and their is an orientation to our local one in Spanish on Friday.

T&A - we went to the local office SSA 2 weeks after his arrival - without the EAD stamp. I brought the printout (I think it is in the signature of user TracyTN) in case the workers didn't understand he was eligible. Luckily ours did. You can get the application online and fill out before hand, although it isn't too long.

blink.gif Ever had a day you should have STAYED in bed? This would have been it for me.

My wheel is destroyed beyond repair. Luckily the air stayed in all four tires. The shaking stopped when I had a repair shop put a back tire on the front and the donut on the back.

Drove on the spare to Naperville for Ibrahim's biometrics. I now have about 80 miles on a donut that can shred or blowup at any moment. Came home and called around a million places and found out to my dismay that my 2007 Sentra can ONLY have a 2007 Sentra wheel on it. AND to complicate this issue, it is $175 and none available in Illinois blink.gif Ibrahim calls home, gets money transferred and we ordered the wheel. It should arrive on Friday. Until then, I am driving on a spare.

It seems everyday, something comes along that requires money that I do not have. Alhamdulillah.

Jackie

hey thanks to my buddy's here, I really do love all of you. OOHHHHHHHHHHHH the BEST thing that happened today, I called the pharmacy and told them I could not afford a month of medication, just 1/2 and they gave me 15 pills!! I got to the 'wheel challenged' car and popped one immediately. Finally, finally my husband agrees I should not go off or adjust my meds on my own. 5mg it is til I am ready to stop. (oh the cartoons are funny smile.gif )
