i have heard from someone that booking for flight to US must be made here in the philippines...what im worried right now,is that my flight was booked by my fiance from US...i just receive the confirmation from the northwest airlines about the confirmation and everything...
my question is, is this okay that my fiance was the one who booked my flight and the booking was made from US?
do i have no problem during my flight?

by the way,my flight will be on may 23....

any suggestion and opinions are highly appreciated....

Not true. You can book flights from Philippines to US from anywhere. You're fine.

Hi Joy_Peter! Booking outside the philippines is okey..nothing to worry as long that the traveler's name is under your name that would be okey..just always bring that confirmation together with the passport with visa..my fiance booked me also there in US in CHEAPOAIR.COM..ill be flying on May 14.. Jesus loves us all ; )

No worries...I bought our daughter's ticket in the US via NWA. It's okay to do that. You will likely have to pay the Philippine travel tax at the airport of P1620 though as they dont add it to the US tickets I believe. Happy Trip!

You might want to be careful.
1. Some airlines will require you to have a copy of the persons ID and Credit card that was used to purchase the ticket in order to board the plane
2. Some airlines will NOT permit you to board if the ticket was purchased with someone elses credit card.

I WOULD VERIFY ON THIS WITH THE AIRLINE AHEAD OF TIME.

Might help you to avoid a very unpleasant suprise!

good luck

I dont think your going to have any problem like this or any other type problem with NWA.
I too was concerned about my booking in USA for my Zen's flight to USA. I interogated my helpful NWA sales person in length, there's not any problem.
I'll tell you what though, the idea of any secound or third party person needing to carry around someone elses visa card and ID copy is a real risk (fiancee or not). Any airline that reqires that, well think twice about using them. Papers are easily lost or put in waste barrel (very juicy for a bad guy).

Good points. good.gif
I didnt think about this because I bought the tickets with my credit card and I will be flying with my wife. But for some, the fiance is travelling alone and their tickets were bought by their fiance in the US.

I know Philippine Airlines for example will NOT permit your to board if the ticket was purchase with someone else's credit card UNLESS, you have a copy of the credit card and an ID of the purchaser.

You have good points as well, but policies are policies. And the fact is that people who are buying tickets in the US for their fiance will need to be careful like you did with the NWA interogation.

There is a policy that all flights originating in the Philippines must have the tickets purchased in the Philippines. But, I have never heard or it being enforced.

American Airlines refused to honor the ticket I purchased for my wife in January for this reason. I tried to rechedule the ticket right after AA's FFA fines and delays. I then purchased the ticket from aother US online travel agent. She arrived with no problems.

That's right. There is policy about the flights from Philippines must purchased the tickets in Philippines. My husband booked a flight for me last April for May 11th flight coz we expect that our Visa process will be ok..but just last week, the AA called him and they said I should purchase the ticket in Philippines so if ever I will get my Visa, I'll go to Manila to stamp my passport in the CFO and to purchased my ticket.

Again. Who is setting this policy and where did you hear it from? Is this AA specific? Coz when someone says "policy", people tend to assume that one cannot buy or book a ticket from Philippines to USA from anywhere except the Philippines. Which of course is not true because for one, I was able to book my wifes flight here in the US and we already have iten, confirmation, and even seat numbers. As you can see, even some people on this thread were succesful in booking their flights from the US.

I've heard a lot of "rumors" about this policy too but nothing concrete so if you could specify on your statement, it would be great for all of us.

Well, I'm just telling you what me and my husband had experienced. I don't know if they only did it to me and not in others.., or whatever. I'm happy for those who had a successful in booking their flights. For me, I have no choice but to do that thing in Manila.

Your gonna be fine...

YES some airlines have policies, but not NWA, I flew NWA before and my ticket was purchased using my mother's credit card and had no problem coming back to the US.

The most important part is NWA knowing your Confirmation #. BTW since your a Filipino Citizen you might pay Travel tax, and be prepare to pay Terminal fee also.. All flyers pay Terminal fee..

Good Luck and be sure come to NAIA 3hrs before your flight....

Both people that have said there is a policy used American Airlines. So maybe this is an American Airlines thing but I cant find anything about it on their website.

I am sure it must be an airline policy. I don't know how they can really tell so many people that they don't want their business, but I guess they just want to look out only for themselves, not for the travelers they are stranding.

ours is NWA... no problem if it's purchase in US or Phil. Purchasing in NWA in their website, and click resident of Philippines is cheaper though ..
You can find this through clicking more search option then click country of resident.--Philippines

I booked my wife's flight on PAL too and there's a notice on the receipt. It actually said that if it was purchased by someone else, the passenger must have a copy of the credit card used and a copy of the valid id. but I'll be flying with her so this is no biggie.
