Good question! And welcome to VisaJourney! star_smile.gif

A "touch" means when the USCIS or NVC (National Visa Center) have done something with your paperwork (ie. sending out the I-797C Notice of Action receipt, or at the NVC - assigning your NVC case number). There are a lot of different ways you may get a "touch" including when they send you a fee bill or ask you for more information. If you have your USCIS receipt number, you can look up and see your last "touch" at this link - (there is an entry box in the lower right hand corner of the web page): http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

Once your USCIS Petition has been approved at USCIS, you can call the NVC Automated Voice System (603 334-0700) to check your touches there. Just follow the instructions when you call them. Generally, once the USCIS has forwarded your approved paperwork to the NVC, it will take a 5-10 days for it to be entered into the system and show up.
