I e-mailed Rio de Janeiro consulate asking how long it'd take for them to assign an appointment for a K3 interview... took them 3 emails to understand my question (jeez), but finally I got this answer:

For applications arriving now, we're scheduling interviews for the end of july.

I guess that's an important information for planning smile.gif

I'm going to go post this in the south-america forum now.

Looks like for whatever reason Brazil takes a very long time to process crying.gif you were at USCIS for 8 months and Jon is at 9 months and counting, I wonder if it is just the country that makes the process so long. Either way thanks for sharing the info, looks like I might be moving soon, my wife refuses to wait over a year, she has asked me to move there if we get close to the 1 year mark, so if the next couple of months nothing happens looks like ill be going through Brazilian immigration.

I missed my first year anniversary crying.gif Missed birthdays, crying.gif etc. Don't be sad about missing 4th of July, its not as important as the previously mentioned.

I would love for my wife to be here in August, but lets see what happens here in the next week or so.

Praying for us all.

Bless

At least you were able to receive an answer by email. I can't get anyone to talk to me.
I was reading the Bolivia Embassy website where my wife is. They indicate they will send the packet and then “Once you have returned the checklist indicating that you have all the required documents, the IV unit will schedule the final visa interview.”

????????? So, is this the standard? Wait for them to call or mail? ClockWatch2.gif
I’ve read that some have called to schedule an interview, but perhaps this is dependent on which Embassy. They don’t provide estimates on when the interview will be scheduled, but Embassy site indicates that normal interviews are within 21 days, but I have nothing to go on for K-3 interviews.

it isn't Brazil fault, everyone that filed around the same time as we did, july and august, suffered from the backlog caused by the amount of applications sent to avoid the fee increase at the end of july. The backlog lasted several months and set a lot of us back several months sad.gif

I dont mean its the countrys fault , I mean it looks like Brazil is one of those countries that USCIS does not like to deal with for some reason, I have not seen any people from Brazil on here that had an easy case this year, in 2006 seems like everything was fine but not this year. I will be on 6 months in 10 more days, I dont even have a touch. Jon is at 10 months and you were at 8. It just doesnt seem like its the back log thats the problem, seems as if the country it self is a coutnry that the USCIS officers know will take more time than other pettitions so they put them off forever. Maybe its all in my head wacko.gif

I hope this is not true. Either way I'm here suffering and desperate. I really am not ready to move back to Brasil and my wife really wants to leave Brasil, but its time to start reconsidering our life's path. crying.gif unsure.gif
