Has anyone had any trouble getting a social security card? We applied the day after my fiancee arrived in the states, which was April 9th and we went by yesterday and told us they were waiting on DHS to verify. Just wondering if we are all alone in this one. . .

You need to wait about 2 weeks after entry (so that they can get him in the system) before you can apply for SSN.

I just wanted to make sure. I'm sure he will be getting it soon since it's been four weeks. Just wanted to make sure we were in the norm. Thanks guys for your replies smile.gif

If it goes too long send an e-mail to SSA. I have heard that this has helped some people.

Make sure you list the application reference number and your visa status.

I don't have my SSN till now. Our lawyer told us to wait for EAD. I'm not working yet. anyone thinks it is a problem in the future?Thanks for this concern..
