Those who have gotten RFE... How long was it after the ds230 entered into the system??

ours was very strange situation, NVC lost the certified copy of the divorce certificate we sent with the DS-230. I called NVC on the phone told them they should have it, called them again after 3 days and was told they don't look more than twice, so I had to send either an original or certified copy. Got the RFE letter on July 22nd, so I dediced to take a chance and mail the nice color copy I had made when I submitted the original documents with Ds-230.

Meanwhile my wife sent me from Egypt another certified copy of the original by Fedex, just in case, which I never got to use since the NVC strangely accepted my photocopy which they received on 7/31/08 and completed my case on 8-8-08

Same thing happened with the police reports, we had some very old police reports (not even originals of certified) from Egypt and Qatar and never got and RFE from those either which it really surprised us.

My wife has now updated police reports from Egypt and Qatar, also the original of the divorce certificate,,,,just in case they request them at the interview.

Our RFE took about two weeks

max 10 days here but nvc was sweet with us as far as time frame - but seems everyone having the same issues - lost this not original that yet we know what we sent - best to have backup and also they will ask do u want a supervisor to look at .....no...takes 7-10 days to determine what they have where it went etc, just send back what they want and i just asked on the phone what was missing -

Can you explain this? That it takes 7-10 days? Did this happen to someone? I'm just curious because today I agreed to have a supervisor look at our file after we got a SECOND RFE message for the I-864 despite the fact that they now have pretty much everything except my firstborn child. Several operators couldn't tell me what is missing and that's why I finally went with the supervisor option. Is this going to slow us down even more?

Hey Tyrobe please update my case was just complete today 08/14/08.

Please add ours too. DS230 was entered in system on 8-06-2008 and case was completed on 8-13-2008. Interview should be sometime in October.

When i called on our rfe i was told exactly what they were missing and i said, no we sent all originals including police report for hubbie - the woman said well you have the option of asking for the file to be reviewed but that can take up to 14 days and .....you just dont know if they will say...still missing this or that...so we just sent back all certified and originals since we had on hand two of each - after that it was very quick. good luck
