Hello fellow trekkers,
My fiancee and I are in the process of preparing for the interview in Lima, Peru. Peru issues the visa 48 hours after interview. I was wondering if any body was ever successful in obtaining a visa the same day at this consulate, and what circumstances the consular officers take into consideration in order to issue a visa on the same day?
Thanks

I don't have any direct experience with this issue but I think you're asking the wrong question. I think the appropriate approach would be to state the legitimate need you would have for asking for an exception. By legitimate, I mean both truthful and sufficient. It won't do you any good to have a list of potential circumstances unless at least one of them is already applicable.
So, other than the obvious convenience issue, why do you ask?

I know that the Bogota embassy (Colombia) has allowed people to pick up the visa the same evening when they asked for it - generally they mail it. So, I would say go ahead and ask them if its possible to pick up the visa on the same day - could work if you get the right person. One of the reasons is that the mail service, even from the embassy, is not very reliable - in Colombia many people do not receive their packet 3 or 4 and have to call for re-mailing or pick up etc. Good Luck

well..... i was in the embassy this morning for my k1 interview and there was a girl that is flight attendan that needed her passport for tomorrow. she talked to DHL people and they say she can pick it up the next day.
just to note, DHL takes care of delivering the passports to each home; you can also pick them up from their offices. the embassy does not interfere with this, you can try to expedite this but i am 99% sure they will tell you to deal wth DHL. as soon as this is a K1 visa and they give you (or fiancee) the pasport and an envelope with all the profile. this may delay the delivery of the passport a little bit.
i will strongly suggest to have plane tickets for 2 or 3 days after the interview. you will have time to visit lima and enjoy peruvian food that i great!!!

At our interview thay told us 4 to 5 days and we asked for 2 days because our flight back to the US and said OK. We had our interview on Monday and picked up the visa on Wednesday afternoon. Good luck, we hope it all works out for you.

Thanks guys for the responses. Pushbrk, since you ask, I asked the embassy not to schedule the interview on a specific date, and lo and behold, that's the date they scheduled the interview on. I was planning to attend the interview if it wasn't on May 23rd, but now I have to decide between attending it and risking not getting back in time for a family member's memorial. I was thinking that if we are approved, the only opportunity my fiancee has of meeting every member of the family is at the memorial, so, started wondering about the possibility of getting the visa the same day.
Sorry for the vagueness; I was trying to get some info without giving too much detail about the concern.
Thanks.
