I have been reading several of the Posts where the spouse is going to the interview with their respective wife or husband. I saw where this caused some delays in a couple of Posts. Does it help if you go to the interview with your Spouse? We don't have a date yet because I messed up some documents but I am hoping we get an interview date in July.

Some consulates allow you to go, some don't. It does not have much impact in theory, but I personally think it is a great idea to go with her. If Bren had not been with me for support, I would have panicked more than I did.

Thanks, I will wait for her date for the Interview and see what she thinks. If she wants me there then I will fly down and be with her. It might be interesting to see how the embassy people treat her and the other people that are getting interviews.

You might want to ask the folks in the Colombia club about that - drop by the Latin America forum: lots of really cool people there.

Let me ask you something, is your timeline updated? It reflects now that you haven't yet received NOA2 (approval on I-130 from USCIS) and NOA1 is dated July/2007, so it's hard to say something or give you an advice when your timeline is not reflecting your current status. So in order for us to give you proper information please keep your timeline updated. Tks.

I look at it this way, your trying to prove to USCIS this is a real marriage, think of it as selling a product, if you call on phone, must likely will not make a sale, but show up in person you have increased your odds in a sale, as in our cases, having both husband and wife at interview increases your chances of a visa. I would attend the interview if you can.

WyoDusty, Paris Heart got it right..We went together, and it made all the difference, the CO was going to deny us, because he said we had a domicile issue, as we filed DCF..I am the US citizen, and was prepared with a mountain of documents, so we were issued the visa, after I explained the situation..Had I not been there, it is possible they would have denied my wife's visa..just a word of caution..good luck my friend..Daniel and Meche..

I emailed Lima embassy(...some issues in beetwen me and my hubby, lol) this is what I got as feedback:

Your presence is not a requirement but a recommendation. When the
petitioner is here things go easier and faster if something raises
during your husband's interview.

I didn't go and we had no problems.

My husband will be here to attend to my interview, he thinks it will be easier this way.

Regarding your wish on getting an interview for July I don't think it will happen cause if your timeline reflects your actual status your case is still at USCIS and haven't gotten an approval yet so you might still have to wait for about 5 months from now I suppose. My case is now at NVC and it is being submited to a paperwork revewing and it might take another 4 to 9 weeks to be completed and sent to my local Consulate where I would add another 30 days, so I'm trying to be positive and if no RFE (request of further evidence) is asked I believe I might get an interview by the end of July, I'm not expecting to have an interview before this time.
Anyway I believe that with the new NVC system of online payments will help everyone's process to be faster and I hope that you get your interview faster than expected.

I need to update my timeline tonight when I get home. We have had the NOA 2 approval and i have paid all the Fees. I submitted the DS-230 document a week ago but I was missing some of the requested civil documents. They were submitted today so the NVC should have everything no later then Friday. Then i just need to wait for them to notify the Embassy in Bogota. So I am still hoping for the July Interview but I will not be surprised if something else comes up.

Sorry my friend I just head from a VJ member that the paperwork reviewing is taking 2 weeks at the most if no RFE is asked so I was not well informed about the time this procedure is taking so check the timeline and posts below and you'll see waht I'm talking about. That's great news for both of us since you sent your DS 230 a week ago and I sent mine 2 days ago so we can expect our cases to be completed shortly! You may have yours completed within a week or so and I believe mine may be completed by May 20th. So you might get your interview by June and I might get mine set for early July which is fine since I was expecting this paperwork reviewing to last longer than a month so I'm more than happy with a July interview
