Hello, I would like to know how I can obtain one of those certified tax returns or whatever this is? I heard certified IRS copies are better so I would like to know what form I need to use to get it. Does anybody know that?

Thank you!

You do not need a certified tax returns....

Certified "transcripts" are availble for like $40 per year... search the IRS website for transcripts... but is totally uneeded

PS. free transcripts are also available

I got the transcripts when we filed adjustment of status, but didn't do it this time. A friend on here told me her husband just got his 10 year card and she just send copies of their tax returns, not the transcripts. They didn't specifically ask for those this time and I didn't have time to wait. If they RFE us, we'll get them then.

Thank you all!

I know it might be useless but I also need it for my personal records.

I just received my certified transcripts from the last 3 years (including 2007) today, I went to the local IRS office gave them my ID and had the transcripts in less then 5 minutes, all at no cost to me.

Nice. It is good to know. For some, this method can be more convenient to obtain transcripts.

Good to hear that they do that in Miami. Here in Pittsburgh they stoped doing it years ago (when IRS web started to give that option). It was taking me 5 min to get certified copies from local IRS office and it was free before. Now, it takes a few weeks through web. But it is not needed. I just realized that I gave my lawer a draft of our tax returns (without our signatures-because we signed one copy and sent it to IRS. Hope, it will not be a problem).

What makes you believe they are "certified"? I'd be curious as to what the service did...

When I was getting my cert copies from local IRS office, they stamped it all over in red "certified". As far as I remember, there also been front page which stated what is in the packed (like tax years, etc).
