How much work would be involved to make some kind of filter for "View New Posts"? For instance, I'd like to view new posts for the Canada forum, the UK forum, Off Topic, Polls, K1, AOS, and this forum. I do NOT want to see new posts for the Philippines forum or any other forum where I'm likely to get an entire page of "Jesus!" "God!" etc. in the new posts listing.

Still, I think it's a good idea for everyone.... lots of people use the recent posts thing, but have no interest in the Russia forum, or polls, or whatever.

both are close and offer types of filtering. The Portal is the closest to what you are asking for however it is designed to specifically list topics from your (or another) home country. These two modules are custom coded versus the forums "view new posts" feature which is a part of the native forums software. I prefer not to hack into the forums software much because it can open up security issues and makes maintaining the code through upgrades much harder. That said there would be a moderate amount of work required to make the portal system into something like you are asking. I am not ultimately sure though since this would take a while to code and may not be any better than the original for 95% of people. Comments from others are welcome as I am curious what people think.

well at least for me I would be interested. I know that the 'watch' thing doesn't work very well for me, it's just as easy to go to the actual forum. Also as someone who's from Ireland, but is living in the UK, and so spends most of my time in the UK forum, I would really love some flexability with what i see in the portal.

I don't usually subscribe to this kind of thinking at all, but in this case - what's the big deal with seeing the thread titles?

Are we all so easily offended we need to filter out what we find offfensive before it offends us?

What visa is He looking for? Also, I'd advise Him not to mention being dead for 3 days, when it comes to the physical.
