Hi,
I'm new here and I'd like your help with one question: Do I need to list membership in community centers and professional organizations in my N 400 application?

I have a friend who submitted his application on March 10 2008 and was naturalized in about three months. I guess the process now is fast.

I contacted USCIS customer service 800 line yesterday (07/09/08) for a status of my application. The rep asked me to contact Newark NJ DO for status. Does this mean my file has been transfered to DO? From the other posts I see that processing speed has increased for 2008 filers. Seems encouraging.

I had to go back for a second biometrics appt. They sent me a letter last week saying that the FBI couldn't read my fingerprints, so I had to go back yesterday. I hope this is not going to delay my process. I WANNA VOTE!!!!!!!

I am done with my interview and it took 10 mins. Now waiting for my oathe letter. the IO just wanted to see my marriage certificate and my wife naturalization paper and then gave them back. I should get my oathe letter within 2 to 3 month the IO stated...

The case was filed to Texas Service Center (TSC) on 7/21/08, instead of 5/21/08 as stated previously.

Question about online status check:

Those folks who already got interview notice, Do you get online status change?

I am waiting for my interview letter and wonder that USCIS change status when interview scheduled.

I completed my finger print on June 24th, but online status never updated.

My online status never changed from "PENDING". I am waiting for my interview now.

Oh! That mean if someone lost interview letter in mail or bla bla, then there is no way to find out about case.

Why the hell USCIS created online status check. Even if you call to customer service they only know what website have.

Mine is also still says Pending and I have already received my Interview letter for Aug 19th.

I know for some folks, Case status disappear when they get interview letter but for me and some other folks lately.. it's still says pending.......

When I got interview notice, status came off the web. The status the whole times was "pending" anyway so I did not find it or calling the customer service useful.

I had my interview today in Baltimore.
Arrived at 8:30 for 8:40 appointment.
They were running behind so I was seen at 9:15 and was done by 9:30AM
Really nice and cordial officer. I wanted to change my name because I got married so I wanted to keep my maiden name as my middle name as I had indicated while applying for N400 but I decided against that when she said it would be another month or so. So I just opted to take my hubby's name and leave it at that.

She went through the application really fast and suddenly she asked me when the constitution was written and that's when I realized that we were at the test part. I wrote a line and read a line and then she checked off her approval and stamped here and there and said she will recommend me for the noon oath ceremony today!
Oath ceremony was running late because they were trying to squeeze in a couple more people who had just completed their interviews. We were 50 people. Once it got rolling it was quick... we handed in our green cards and the oath notice, they played anthem while we stood, we pledged oath allegiance and the oath to country, they played video of president welcoming new citizens and they handed out each naturalization certificate and a flag. And then we were free to leave
The whole thing took 3 months!!!

My finger prints done on 24th June. So still early days to receive interview letter. But watching and waiting mail every day


Any one have any Garden city(New York) experience about interview and time line?

I don't think Boston offers same-day oath ceremonies, so I am getting ready for all the grand pomp at Faneuil Place. I know for sure Boson holds 2 oath ceremonies per month...

I just got my wife's interview letter, which will be September 10. I don't now how to post all this information to the list of dates, so I am just providing it here.

The biometics appointment was in Buffalo, New York. I was suprised to see on the biometics notice that if I could not go to that appointment, that I could go instead any wednesday until mid-September. However, I had no reason for delaying.

I am in the same boat. Finished finger print on 24th June and still did not receive interview letter. (Garden City, New York)
Many lucky guys got letter in one month or around after finger prints.

I applied after 5 years, is it make difference if you file after 3 year or 5 year?

Nothing yet from Washington DC either.

Still waiting for an IL even though on my NOA it said I could expect it within 90 days.

Got my biometrics done 06/20 and still waiting. Here is what frustrates me:

1) I didn't get NOA1, just biometrics.
2) In the back of my check a different number is written that the one on my biometrics letter
3) I cannot check my status online with the number on my biometrics letter, the other number shows some application filed in February. I am a May filer.
4) Ever time I call the service center, I am told something else. Its like I am teased.
First I was told that my case is in a local office and that everything is fine. That it is ok not to get a NOA1.

Then I called again a few weeks later, I was told that my case is still at TSC and that it is still pending with FBI. I asked why I was told something else before. The officer told me that I should not listen to my friends. I tried to explain, useless. He kept yelling that no one ever gets fingerprint answer faster that in 90 days.

Online status is waste of time. They never change status. I called many time to Service Center and always tells me to wait for 7 months. I know many guys from Vermont Service Center got their IL. My NOA1 says "You should expect to be notified within 540 days of this notice."

I hope we will get it soon too. It is almost 2 months now from my finger prints.

I hear 'ya. Buffalo NY has slowed down considerably and we are playing the waiting game also

Immigrationportal has a huge thread conneted to the processing times in DC. Currently DC is sending out interview letters for March filers (that is provided that you would not have any issues with your background check).

Smartie, I don't want to be a downer, but we filed in June and we have an interview coming up here. It might have something to do with the name checking though, don't have that common of a name so maybe it goes quidker. Anyway, good luck, and sorry to hear about the delay.

Just passed the interview. The officer said I have to wait for the Oath Ceremony letter... within 120 days.

Hello All,

I completed my interview yesterday @ Atlanta DO. Scheduled time was 1.05 PM but didn't get call till 2.00 PM.
IO was nice person. He pull up all documents I submitted with application and was just checking everything in order and whatever was missing he asked me copy of that.
He also asked me what's proof you're still married to USC and i told my wife is sitting in waiting area and he told me he needs to meet her after interview, I said That's fine. then he continue with application and ask me all Yes/NO question from last pages. Then it's Test time. Ask me 7 questions and ask to read one.
Then he congratulate me that I'm approved.
As my interview was after 2.00 PM, there were no chance for same day Oath. Ask me if 21st or 25th will work for me.
I picked 21st Aug at 2.00 PM. and he didn't even ask to meet my wife after interview.

Document asked during interview:

1) my birth certificate
2) Tax returns for 2005,06,07
3) My daughter's Birth Certificate
4) My I-20 because I came to usa on F1(Student Visa)
5) GC and Passport
6) My Marriage Certificate

I'm not panicking - I already called the USCIS and they told me all is well with the application. All we can do is wait.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when they issue letters.

I got my interview letter in Jacksoville, FL on 8/18/08 and it is for 9/11/08. Don't know how to update this list,

You can add me to the list! Got my Interview Notice on August 15th and it is scheduled for October 28th! NYC USCIS!
