Hi all.
I'm thinking of applying for a position with USCIS and was wondering if it is possible with a pending I-130 petition for my spouse. By the way, I sent in his clean criminal record from his country when I petitioned for him, so that wouldn't be an issue.
I have researched this, but so far nothing yet.
Anyone have any idea's or comments?
Thanks.

Leedah, I understand what your saying, I do not see where it would hurt, but who knows how these people think. But I will tell you applying for this position will not help you waiting status and Im sure you know that. To me If I have not already "work" with and I say "with" not "for" DHS for over 15 years, I myself would apply for the positions they have open. Truly these people with DHS are great folks, I have made many friends within DHS, and enjoy working with them. The are human, though we may think they are not. Especially in our waiting situation.
Good luck on your decision.

Ok, well I actually did apply awhile back and got a tentative job offer yesterday.
Wanted to get some real info before putting myself out there.
Who knows who is REALLY on this board. lol.
If you want the job, I can't see how your status would have any impact if you are qualified. And some of the salaries are pretty good! Good luck!
Oh, and by the way, my EAC number is....

Thanks for the info.
I am now in the process of doing my security checks and waiting on fingerprint cards.
They ask for EVERYTHING about your past and it is lonnnnnng.
I was looking online and saw that many people don't continue the process after getting the tentative job offer letter and the security package. It said that the process is so thorough that it can be VERY intimidating to say the least.
I think that is true, as I am still looking at my package and cringing.
Whew.

Leedah,
Good luck on your possible new job journey. Its a good job, benefits, and as we all know, its nearly impossible to fire a government employee.
I too was encouraged by fellow officers to apply for position, turned it down.

Depending on which level of security check they are going for it can be awhile. Are you having to take the lie detector test ? Some of the investigators can ask some pretty off the wall questions of your friends and neighbors.
Good luck

funny thing is though I was offered the position,...nothing is still going on with my I-130.
I wonder what will happen since on one form I'm supposed to state all foreign relatives and relations. Hmmm...
Well, atleast I'll get some decent benefits and be able to explain the process from all sides to the clerks who answer
