All this waiting to even start gets me down sometimes. So yesterday, I went to the credit union and retrieved all my important papers I have been gathering in anticipation of one day filing(marriage certificates, divorce papers, divorce certificates, long birth certificate, cancelled passport, and old "Green Card") At home, I sorted through 7 years of evidence and tried to decide what were the best examples of a long distant relationship (boarding passes mine and Carnell's, pictures - 8 spanning almost eight years, telephone bill for the last year - highlighted, copies of correspondence to us together, 2 emails from Carnell, and copies of engagement cards received. I then took this all to work and made 3 copies of each piece of paper (and the complete passport.) Separated those photocopies in to 3 piles - Carnell's set, Janet's set, and USCIS's set. I then gathered everything I had photocopied and trucked back to the credit union and gently crammed it (all nicely folded) back into the safety deposit box. Now this might be premature, but with three sets ready to go and only the application ready to complete; whenever the longest divorce in the history of California is finalizes, I feel secure in knowing the "real" evidence in safely being guarded in the safety deposit box.

It's so hard waiting, I know. I was seperated for over 2 years before I met Gene, but wasn't divorced. My ex was money hungry and we had property, and I had a good sized pension that he wanted...so I put off the divorce. When Gene and I decided to marry, I had to put in for the divorce. At one time I thought if I was "generous", then we could do a divorce with mutual consent, but unfortunately, when he heard that I would retire, then remarry and move to the US, his ugliness resurfaced and he made it very difficult for me. It got to the point where I gave in, took a huge financial loss as far as I was concerned. One thing I will remember my Dad saying was "whatever you do, do it with no regret...don't look back...don't be bitter". That took me a long time but when I decided that this was not going to end until I could get past the "money" issue, I got my divorce without going to trial in 2004.I decided that my mental health and future happiness was more important than the money. Which I already knew of course, but I was being stubborn.

Sorry, I didn't mean to go on about my old issue. I wanted you to know, that sometimes it seems like that stuff is never going to end. But it does. And then you can file, and begin a NEW life with someone who truly respects you and loves you. Know that we're here with you along the journey, even this part of the journey BEFORE you file for your K visa.

HUGS!!!

Well it sounds like you are pretty well organized so all should go good. Hope the divorce comes through soon so you can file. Best of luck.
