I am will be going soon to Nigeria and looking for reasonable hotels that are fairly close to the Lagos Embassy, also to some of the site in Lagos.

I wish you journey mercy to Nigeria. But you need to know that all hotels close to the embassy are very expensive. Hotels like EKO Meridian Hotel, Federal Place Hotel are very close to the embassy but they are pretty expensive. What I will suggest is that you lodge in an hotel within another area maybe, mainland which is not too far to commute to the embassy on Victoria Island in the morning. Areas like Surulere and Ikeja have some good hotels at reasonable price. You can check out Haile Selassie Suites at Adetola Road, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos which is abiut 20minutes to the embassy. or Felona Hotel at Ajao Estate about 5minutes from the Airport and 40minutes to the embassy. You can also ask your relatives in Nigeria to research atleast 5 Hotels for you and then choose one you feel best fits the proximity to the embassy. But have in mind not to disclose the hotel of your choice till the moment you arrive Nigeria. Have a safe trip to Nigeria and back home.

Hotels around the embassy are ridiculously expensive. Try the A.Y. Hotel and the Excellence Hotel. I stayed at both. They were secure, clean and affordable. The staff at both were great and they have restaurants on premises. If you stay at the A.Y. I recommend an upper room with a balcony. Its awesome to stand on the balcony and watch everything happening on the street below.
