I just would like to know if being a nurse will not jeopardize the approval of our K1 visa application. Will the Consul not consider a big deal that the K1 visa beneficiary is a nurse specially during the interview? I'd like to know about this matter.

this is just my thoughts on it but i would think that they would be happy about it because it means that it is less of a chance that u will become dependent on the state for anything i mean everyone has to have show of a sponsor to support them for that very reason but if ur a nurse they can see that u will be able to find work easily once ur legally able to work so i would think it would help ur case not hinder it but as i said this is just my thoughts about it whistling.gif

I will assume you are talking about Retrogression on Nurses whom enter the USA.

If you were trying to come into the USA via a work visa to work as a nurse and a hospital petitoned you, then yes would have about a 5 year wait now.

But since you are coming into the USA as a K1 Visa, then being a nurse will have no impact.

Probably a good time to be a nurse from Philippines being in USA looking for work the next few years, cuz your competiton from nurses from other countries coming into the USA for the next 5 years will be few to none.

FYI - My Fiance just graduated with her Nursing Degree and I have explored this subject in great detail..

Nope! I just got interviewed last April 23 and the consul asked me what does i do for a living, and i said i am a nurse and i'm preparing to take my nclex examination... he said " ah ok, so you're a nurse that's good" that's all he said... and i got approved. It doesn't matter even if you're a nurse... as long as you're document are complete you don't have to worry anything. Gudluck!

I have many counsin who were NURSES (beneficiary) and none of them had any problems. Actually, it was easier for them to find work in the states.

Absolutely not... Please review the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide...

I don't think so.. Cause either 1 way or another you can apply to come to America with your profession..

Nurse is an in-demand profession here in the US.

Incorrect.

USCIS and Immigration have a 5 year (Waiting list) on Nurses coming into the USA from a Forgien Country, It is called Retrogression.

What's cool about being a nurse is that it's a career instead of just having a job... Kudos...

My wife is also a nurse (and a pharmacist). I'm on CR1 and not K1 but we're all the same. we will all be immigrant sooner or later.

Being a nurse will not be a problem during your interview. As a matter of fact, it will help you because the US govt knows you wont be a public charge.

Now if you're applying for a tourist visa and you're a nurse, I would say dont even try to apply.

I don't think so. I have a friend who's a nurse and she left via the K1 route last March. The pre-screener/CO even told her that she should be thankful that she's a nurse considering that at the time of her interview, her fiance was still unemployed and they had to request his parents to co-sponsor her.

They have a career fair here in NZ every year, and there is always a huge demand for nurses to go to the USA. I should think it would help you, not hinder.

My fiancee ShaSha is also a Filipina nurse and she just had her interview on the 29th and was approved so dont worry.

In PI they have almost 1 million people in Nursing School this year.

Last year they had 600,000 plus.

In PI they are now lying to student and parent and telling them to go to Nursing School so they can go to USA and work.

Many new nursing schools are popping up everywhere in PI, it a new way for schools to make money.

Problem is : The reputation of PI nurses may suffer in the future with so many new school turning out poorly trained nurses. Nurses in the past from the PI had a very good reputation.
