BrownSugarHoney
Hey all,
I am hoping that my Ghana K-1 people can help answer a few questions...

1) How much in advance should my fiance go for his medicals? From the discussiosns, it seems like 5-6 weeks in advance is good...Is that right?

2) I have studied well with how to best do the medicals (Thanks Zee)..... Holy Trinity for the medicals- Ask for Mr. Ray, Akai House for the vaccinations, and Medlabs for the HIV/Drug tests...Does anyne know what the total cost should end up being?

3) Proof of continued relationship since I-129F was filed: My fiance and I usually sent e-mails or talk on the phone with a calling card. The calling card # shows consistently on the phone bill, but does not list my fiance's #. Does anyone know if this will be seen as lack of proof? Will our e-mails be viewed as adequate proof?

4) I-134: I am going to send my tax returns in addition. I usually do my taxes via Turbo Tax. Does anyone know if my printed return will be enough or does it have to be notorized (or something)? Also, Zee suggested that I send the 1st sheet of my bank statement since my bank can't seem to produce a letter documenting the amout of deposits in a 12-month period. I feel exposed since my account info is on the sheets. Should I black that info out?

Looking forward to your help...Thanks!

I'll give you my best advice:
answer#1: US Embassy give you 4 months to complete, so you can do your medical/vacination as long as before your interview is fine...

answer#3: bring any e-mail, phone card along in case they need to see it since you already filed I-129f

answer#4: usually this would be done altogether when filing I-129f, (I-129f, I-134, g325a, etc, ), but let's me answer your question, as I understand it, you haven't file this form yet? anyway, you need to have the bank write a letter, with bank letterhead showing balance, date open the account, and signed it. you don't want to send your bank statement with black out items... on the tax return, you can include your
W-2 form so they know it's real/true income tax return. In this I-134 section, you can include many things, your life insurance, trust fund, 401K, saving or checking, house value, etc)
Hope this help a bit...good luck!!!

Hey all,
I am hoping that my Ghana K-1 people can help answer a few questions...

1) How much in advance should my fiance go for his medicals? From the discussiosns, it seems like 5-6 weeks in advance is good...Is that right? I would say at least 3 weeks in advance because your fiance needs to go back and pick up the results which is anywhere from 2-3 weeks.

2) I have studied well with how to best do the medicals (Thanks Zee)..... Holy Trinity for the medicals- Ask for Mr. Ray, Akai House for the vaccinations, and Medlabs for the HIV/Drug tests...Does anyne know what the total cost should end up being? Total cost: 301 Ghana cedis. This includes the follow up vaccinations (13 Ghana cedis each for 2 visits a month apart).

In our case the CO did not want to see the phone records. He said they did not prove we talked. I had printed out phone records from the internet with my number calling his (not an 1-800 number) and that was not enough. My advice, send any and all physical communication. Inundate them with info.

I printed my tax returns from Turbo tax and that was accepted. It does not need to be notarized, only the I-134 needs to be. I sent the first page of my bank statements for a year but I blacked out my account no. Either way they did not ask for my bank statements.

Looking forward to your help...Thanks!

That is wrong. The I-134 is needed at the interview stage. No where on the instructions for the I-129F does it say that you need to send an I-134. If you send an I-134 with the original petition they can ask for an updated one at the interview. The issue of sponsorship of the beneficiary is determined by the CO and not USCIS.

I would say do the medical a month or so in advance. The vaccinations really are less expensive in Ghana than they would be here so it's worth finishing them there though it's not required to finish them. Someone on the site found a way to get the records through their calling card. I use calling cards but buy them online so I have a record of who I'm calling. I do believe it would be better to have a record, so try doing a VJ search on calling cards and sub-saharan because it was in the past six months that someone found a way to get the records sent to them without the drama of a court order. Send as much information for proof of ongoing relationship as possible, it's worth drowning them with it so that anything they ask for he has at the interview. I used my Turbo Tax print out for the I134. After much hassle, my bank wrote up a letter. They have to go to the research dept, which is why they give you so much trouble, but it can be done. They charged me $10, but I didn't care. I would definitely black out the account number if you use bank statements because the paper travels all over and you never know.

Hi BrownSugarHoney,

I just want to interject a few points only because my SO and I have just completed the medicals.

1. Please tell your fiance to go early for his medicals. Samuel just finished today and he will pick up the results on the 9th. (Three days before our interview) I know they are on "African Time", but it drove me crazy. wacko.gif I have not eaten, or slept all week. I am a nervous wreck. But he is doing just fine, LOL.

Save yourself the aggravation and go early like others have advised.

2. Give you honey Mr. Ray's number. That man makes things happen....how I do not know but he does.

3. During the medicals let your baby know that they test for everything...and they want both urine and stool samples. Samuel called me and he was very uncomfortable with this aspect. I on the other hand thought that is was normal and part of a regular medical exam. This only put us another day behind because of course he could not produce the sample upon request.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck with everything.
