Vicious cycle and all. Some break out of it, but I think it's a lot tougher than some would like to think.

Poor people have less money. Other than that, I'm not sure they have any other all-encompassing feature or characteristic.

IMO some are victims of a rigged system, others are where they are at for poor business or lifestyle choices(I don't think they are stupid though), some are born into it which makes it even harder for them...I agree with Steven that there isn't one characteristic to describe all poor.

And if I wanted to give money, it wouldn't be all my money so I couldn't pick that one either.

You know, I'm wondering now how to define 'poor'. I suppose that I, wrongly, associate 'poor' with 'lower-class'. It brings to mind a certain stereotype. Yet, when I think about it more carefully, I'd probably be considered poor by other people's standards. I have no savings, a small credit-card debt, and I barely manage to break even every month.

I was thinking about that too, because that's how my family was for a lot of the time I was growing up. I didn't think we were poor, but we had no extra money and didn't live in a big house and it was financially very tight until years later when my dad started to work for himself again. He doubled his income the first year probably. But I am glad I grew up knowing how valuable money is so I wasn't spoiled and don't need all the latest gadgets.

Some opinions are less respectable than others. The evildoers know that.

Nothing is so simple to diagnose or fix but I firmly believe the majority of poor people haven't chosen being poor as a cool lifestyle, nor do they secretly enjoy their life of measly wages, welfare checks and poor prospects (laughing at the tax payer who has to support their feckless lifestyle) nor have they all made stupid life choices that resulted in poverty.

Oh, I didn't vote because I don't agree with any of the choices.

Well as soon as I get my hands on some plutonium I will solve all our problems, plus my pesky neighbors, damn them.

Not all poor people are stupid, and not all stupid people are poor. Are stupid people more likely to be poor? I doubt that, although stupid people are probably less likely to have made their own money via starting their own business. Anyway, what definition of stupid are we using here? There are intelligent people who have no common sense (which could be called stupidity) and there are less intelligent people who have loads of common sense.

Well, the theory is that stupidity is a prereq for being poor. To conclude from that statement that smart people must all be rich is, well, let's say it would make for an interesting Venn diagram

I was born having to work for a living. I think I would've made an excellent filty rich person but alas, I was born without wealth, just of victim of circumstance. A cycle that I cannot escape.
