Hi,

I have applied for a K1 Visa,
Got a letter from NVC dated April 7th that they are sending the case to Chennai Embassy.
I haven't recieved any packets at my residence yet from chennai unsure.gif
Called DOS to find out and they say that the Chennai Embassy has already sent out the packets(packet 3 and packet4) and that my interview is scheduled for May19th-08..

1.How do I find out WHEN and through WHAT COURIER service did chennai send the packets?

2.Can I ask chennai embassy to mail me all documents online?

3.How long does the PCC from the regional passport office usually take?I still haven't applied for mine
because I am travelling out of the country just now.

4.What is the procedure to postpone the interview date?

My NOA2 is valid until July.

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.
THANKS SOO MUCH. helpsmilie.gif

hi,

1. It will take 14 working days for the packet for you to get the interview letter, you can get it soooner depending on which city you are and how far you from chennai.

2. Embassy wont email you papers, you will have to go their personally with your passport as your ID and get the duplicate letter.

3. PCC takes 10 busniess working days to to get to you.

4. Never ever postpone your interview date. People wait for months for an interview. You are lucky to get it.

God Bless

Hi, Chennai does not send out Packet 3. no0pb.gif They give you an interview date immediately upon receiving your case from the NVC, and then mail you Packet 4 with the interview letter. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks or more for the Packet to arrive, like Jigi said.

Our Packet 4 was late in arriving. We emailed Chennai Consulate at ChennaiIV@state.gov. We put the case number in the subject line. Chennai immediately emailed back confirming our interview date and they attached all documents in Packet 4. Later we did finally get the packet by post. So you can email them and request Packet 4, say that you have not received it yet. They are good about replying to emails! yes.gif

The PCC takes different times at different offices. For instance, the Visakhapatnam passport office gave the PCC to my husband in 24 hours. The local police station in his village took 2 days. Best to apply a few weeks before your interview.

If you cannot attend your interview (maybe you have work out of the country), you can request another date. I know of interview dates being successfully rescheduled. Just email them the request, for instance say you cannot attend in mid May and request a date, say, in mid-June or whatever. Usually they will accommodate. The only thing they will NOT do is schedule an interview for an EARLIER date. But they accommodate people who want the date pushed back to a later date.

Heyyyy guys,

Thanks sooo much for the prompt response.
I mailed chennai yesterday asking for the packet4 online.Waiting for their reply.

I am out of country, haven't applied for any PCC yet,and have interview date on May 19th,
so doesn't look like I can make it for the interview. Will try and postpone it.

Is mailing chennai the only way to postpone an interview or is there some other procedure?

Thanksss again,

ELW
I guess you could call them but a written record(email) is better. Wait a couple of days and if they do not reply, try to call. Good luck! good.gif

Heyaa,

I finally got the packet4 today.
But we anyway need to postpone it,any idea how to go about this ?
Do we just mail chennai asking them to postpone?

Congrats on getting your Packet 4! good.gif

I would just email them requesting your interview to be rescheduled to a later date (give dates you prefer). Please let us know how it goes! yes.gif
