I just got a call from the school where I applied for teaching job and they set an interview for me on Monday. I was just wondering if they ask me for reference since the people who knew me are from my country. What did u guys do about this??
Any help and tips are welcome.

if you have any references in the usa, then i would put those, but if not just explain your situation and tell that this would be your first job here and that your references are abroad

hi Riz..sorry if I am no much help of your situation right now but just wondering if u did your US equivalency for your foreign credentials? If so, what agent did u use for? What type of evaluation did u have..document by document or course by course?

Hi Sweetpink,
I have my Transcript of records and all certificate licenses from the Philippines evaluated by AACRAO in washington DC course by course and paid 190 dollars.. then i send copy to Georgia professional Commission for evaluation so they give a letter that I am eligible for a NON renewable certificate to each math and science 6-12 . What is your course by the way.?

actually I have a degree in Psychology but had a 4 year teaching experience in Pre-school but I guess here in US I need to complete a certification and/or atleast have a units in Early Childhood education...

Perhaps you can offer character references since you can't provide in-country work references. Character references can come from somebody in your church (pastor/priest, lay leader). If you do/did volunteer work, someone from where you worked can also give you a character reference.

I listed my bosses in the Philippines as career references, with their address phone numbers and email address. For character references i listed my cousin and some of my long time friends that resides here in the US.

Check with the school board in your county for the information on certification procedures. They might be easier than you think!

Hello StillThePrettiest,
I was just interviewed by the principal . She just asked questions based on my resume. Actually, She is still waiting for her teacher who plan to resign to finalized things. Maybe sample lesson will come later. I will be waiting for call this week.

Just an update : the teacher who planned to resign decided to stay.. . Anyways, Still on job hunting and practice driving..
