Hi! Just hoping you guys may be able to help...
my husband came to the u.s. from zambia 2 years ago on a fiance visa. now we would like to apply for his 2 year old son who is still in zambia to come and live with us. Through reading the posts, it seems to me that it would be best for me to file the I-130 as a step-parent because i am a u.s. citizen, rather than having my husband apply for his son because he is a p.r. is this true? is the processing time about a year if we go this route?

also, i'm just wondering if there is additional information we need to send because my husband's son was born out of wedlock. will my husband be asked to have a paternity test at some time or is there additional proof that we need to send if I am the one to apply for the boy?

finally, i'm wondering what the process is after submitting the I-130? When it gets approved, does the boy need to go to the embassy for an interview or a medical exam and can anyone take him? or do my husband or i need to be there with him? if the I-130 is approved, is it safe to assume that the visa will be granted or are there additional hoops to jump through?

Thanks so much to anyone who can offer advice! it's much appreciated!
